The tasting room was cool. Great selections. The tours you have to make an appointment. If you go to the restroom you can see some of the factory. Only one bathroom for men and one for women. The staff was great. They have great merchandise. We got some stickers and shirts. You can open up a tab or pay as you go when you are test tasting.

Firestone Walker has always been one of my husband's favorite beer brands. When traveling to San Luis Obispo, we had to stop here on the way. Food was great, beer was better! The 18th Anniversary was incredible. Take the brewery tour if you can. Learned a lot about how the beer is made and got two free tastes while on it. Jess in the Tasting Room was awesome! Will definitely be back.

Tasting room is a funky little area at the front of the brewery. There is a bar and then several tables near the windows. They offer a tour a few times a day of the brewery, although, if you need a restroom, you get to walk in and see all the brewing contraptions even if you're not on a tour. One odd thing though was that you pay per glass to taste. There wasn't an option for a tasting flight that I saw. Most tastes were between $1.50-$2.50 a glass. Tried six different ones-the stout, porter, oktoberfest, and two other light beers (that I cannot remember). Most were good. Porter and oktoberfest were the best.

We were meeting my stepdaughter and grandchildren for lunch. Her daughter picked the place as she loves their pizza. Both she and her brother ordered them. The rest of us order sandwiches. The individual pizzas ate about 12" so they could be shared. The sandwiched are also ample sized, very tasty with served with plenty of hot fries. The server was very attentive and understanding that we were visiting as much as eating. We never felt rushed and there were plenty of refills on beverages. We were celebrating a birthday and they even comped her dessert. The place is huge and very busy, but there was no wait for seating at lunch..

Went for lunch on a Friday, not packed but definitely busy. Our service was great, as was the beer and food. I ordered fish and chips which was really good. Fish was crispy outside, firm on the inside. Spicy tarter sauce was good too. Our table also got the chicken club (was delish), the bbq brisket sandwich (bomb, you can taste their DBA in the sauce), and a cobb salad. The salad was very bland, but our waitress saved the day and allowed a burger for a replacement and it was awesome. Beer were good, ordered a Solace summer ale which was tasty and a DBA, also tasty. Would highly recommend this place!

Its been a long time since ive been to the central coast. May so long that i wasnt able to drink legally when i was last there. Discovered Firestone through their collaboration with Mikkeller on a sour ale, Lil' Mikkel. Going through two different Opus One wine barrels, theyve come up with this slightly sweet and sour ale with a dry finish. Now that i know that Mikkeller has collaborated with them, im definitely looking for their more mainstream stuff

The brewery is great. Take the complimentary tour which isn't long (the brewery is small) and enjoy the beer. The tours get full very quickly, so arrive early and pay attention to when they start taking down names for the times. Where I take several points off is The Taproom, the brewery's restaurant. To be honest I thought it was mediocre. It's better to just take the tour and eat somewhere else.

What a difference a month makes! OK, I really love the beers from this place, so don't get me wrong about that. This review is about the restaurant that is across the street from the brewery. We first ate here less than a month ago and had exceptional service food, etc. This month? OMG... so maddening when we driven so far, waiting to have lunch here. Anyway, this is what I wrote on my check: 1) waiter did not give us any silverware/napkins 2) waiter disappeared (ended his shift) after taking our order, did not inform us that he was leaving and apparently did not hand off our table to anyone since no waiter/waitress was in sight for 15 min. 3) Our order was wrong. We asked for grilled fish tacos but we received battered fish tacos 4) the wrong tacos were replaced with grilled (non-battered at least) tacos that were half the size of the original tacos that were placed on our table. 5) a salad that we had ordered never arrived. since no waiter/waitress checked on us we could not inform anyone and thus just decided to pay for the disappointing food that we had received and go.

It's a young brewing company still finding itself. But nonetheless, there is quite a potential by the sounds of their latest development in the beer biz. In a land where wineries are a happening, why not give beer a try? I came here on a Summer saturday and thought the venue is nice and really modern. The tasting selections and pricing is a little funky, with a 2 oz tasting for $2 yet a 7oz flute that's only $3 and varying depending on the tier of beer? We went for a tour of the brewery, and although I'm already thinking to myself of what it was like during the Heineken tour in Amsterdam and what I've heard of the Anchor Steam one....this doesn't quite match up. The beer selection still has a lot of growing and breaking through, but you can't go wrong with the DBA (Double Barrel Ale) or some of the new ones like 805 Blond Ale and Walker Reserve. The Wookey Jack (Black rye IPA) is really interesting and still makes me unsure of whether I like it or not. I suppose another visit is in order.

My hubby was so excited to try out this brewery. But we walked out kinda bummed. It starts off fine, the ambiance is great. Modern warehousy feel. The waitress sucked. Though there were only about 3 other people there, she still couldn't find time to check in on us. The food is exactly a two, meh. I've experienced better. I ordered a chicken sandwich and added the brie cheese. It was very bland. My hubby however, was CRAVING a steak sandwich. I asked if they could make one, and she says, "no we don't do that." Um, so you have bread for the chicken sandwich, you have skirt steak for the entree, but we can't figure out how to put it together?! Lame. So my hubby ordered the skirt steak succotash....for $16. Nope, food wasn't good enough for the money spent. I did order a pint of 805, and my hubby had a solace. We switched beers mid entree. The beers were the best part of the meal.

Stumbled on this place after coming up to Paso Robles to meet an old friend. Yelp told me there was a brewery nearby so I just dropped the meeting with the old friend and went here instead. Who needs friends when you have beer right???? Great atmosphere here, lots of beers to try, and a very reasonably priced gift store (I didn't see a tour, though their taster menus gave me all the tour I needed). The Velvet Merlin Oatmeal Stout was my personal favorite, and I relished it's chocolately flavor like a Proctologist... woah bad metaphor alert. Right off the freeway, and a great little spot to grab a few drinks, and maybe even some laughs if you are lucky.

First, a confession: I really enjoy Coors Light. I would prefer to drink it rather than any other beer. I know, I know! Coors Light isn't beer, it's flavored water, etc. etc. But still, I like it. That being said, I enjoyed my time at Firestone. This was our last stop after some wine tasting and before dinner. They are currently undergoing some construction and one must enter through the side. It is mildly confusing though, as there is a huge sign by the front door that says Closed. The front entrance is closed, not the establishment. They ought to move that sign, though. Lots of the beers weren't for me (see above). I did enjoy the Hef and the Velvet Merlin (nice and chocolate-y). The service was very kind and the space was large and relaxing. However, Firestone blew me away in one major area: I fell in love with their Velvet Merkin! That's no typo! Love. Velvet Merkin! The Velvet Merkin is their oatmeal stout (the Velvet Merlin) which is then aged in Bourbon Barrels and comes in at 8.5% abv. Bought a whole pint to myself (well, not a true pint, as they sell it only in the 11oz glass due to its alcohol content). Love it! Of course, I happen to love the one that isn't available to buy elsewhere, although one of the pourers mentioned that they were thinking of bottling it. I really want some more of that Merkin! (that sounds a little dirty, doesn't it?)

I've been a fan of Firestone Walker beers for years. Especially LOVE the Anniversary releases, Double DBA, and Easy Jack. Wookey Jack too - ok fine I love them all! We've been to the brewery multiple times in Paso, but had never taken the brewery tour. We've always had amazing experiences in their tasting room and restaurant so we were super pumped for our tour. We booked the 10:30 AM tour on a Saturday which was totally key cause apparently nobody else was awake, so it was just us and one other couple. Almost like a private tour! Our tour guide (Adam? sorry I'm terrible with names), super cute 23ish guy with medium blonde hair in a pony tail and blue eyes, gave us an awesome tour! I am a HUGE fan of brewery tours and have done them all over the country and in Europe and I have to say this was my absolute fav! He explained everything in super details (yes I'm a beer geek and love those scientific details), was able to answer all our questions, AND we got tastes of beer including a limited release of a collaboration beer with Floyd's Brewing Co. out of Chicago!! Just an overall amazing experience. Thank you Firestone and thank you, Adam!!! (or John, god I really suck with names...)

This is not your typical wine style tasting room. Firestone gives the opportunity to taste small pours, pints, and even purchase growlers (64 oz jugs). The feel in their tasting room was inviting and had tables, music, and even a TV to check out some games. This style of tasting room was relaxed and they made you feel like they wanted you to stay a while. They also had food but since we were off to dinner after our beer sampling we passed. Now for the beer. I recently have started diving into these craft style beers. My favorite Firestone by far is their Double Barrel. It is 9.5% alcohol so not for the faint of heart but the flavor is outstanding. Lissa G. loved the Velvet Merkin and have to agree it was my second favorite. The chocolate-y notes were nice and would work well as an after dinner beer. Note: They are currently doing construction in the front of their tasting room and there was a large CLOSED sign in the front. They are most likely not closed. Reference their hours on Yelp. Happy beer drinking!

A really cool place overall- didn't expect the whole brewery to be so large! Came here late Saturday and ordered the taproom flight and some french onion soup. Soup was a bit too peppery for me, but good nevertheless. The taproom has a great lodge feel with good service. Taproom flight was good and ended up ordering a flight of their unfiltered taproom IPA. Not bad, not bad.

Thoroughly enjoyed the tour and tasting opportunity at Firestone Walker Brewery. Jason provided an excellent history, background, brewing technique and bottling processes in a succinct way while walking through the brewery. (Remember to wear closed toe shoes...probably for the insurance requirements). He was very knowledgeable, providing more than some on the tour wanted to know...but able to answer all of the questions I wanted to know about the hops used, double dry hop process and the barrel process used at FW. Come early to enjoy the tasting room before the tour and crowds arrive. Austin was very helpful in selecting what I would like from the 13 beers on tap. Being an IPA man, I tried the four offered. Also tried the Parabola Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout. This is the most flavorful beer I have EVER had. Limited distribution. Aged in oak, definitely a full bodied stout, with tastes of espresso & vanilla. Wow! Very enjoyable!

Been wanting to check this place out and was sadly disappointed. Ordered the Opal, and hubby ordered the "805." Beers were okay, but nothing to write home about. We also ordered the onion rings, which were good but too greasy. We sat on the patio since we had our dog with us. Nobody came to check on us or to see if we wanted another round of drinks. There was one other party on the patio who didn't have a waiter or waitress check on them while we were there. On top of that, all the other tables were empty on the patio with exception of dirty dishes and dirty glasses on most of the tables. This caused flies to make our visit miserable. The staff inside were not that busy and seemed to care less about the diners enjoyment. I gave two stars because the food was okay, and they allowed our pet to sit with us. We love Firestone beer and purchase it at the grocery but we won't be back here again.

3 stars - brewery tour 4 stars - Taproom (restaurant) 5 stars - beers I stopped by the Firestone Walker brewery over the weekend during a trip from Santa Barbara to visit Hearst Castle. The beers were excellent and there were a lot of choices. Each of the beers was offered as a 3 oz. tasting for $1-2 (larger sizes are also available), so you could try a variety. I started off my visit taking a tour of the brewery. I've been on about a dozen different brewery tours and this was definitely the worst. The tour guide didn't seem very knowledgeable about the company or the beer making process. She also seemed pretty bored giving tours. The tour lasted about 40 minutes and didn't include any free tastings (although they were cheaply available before and afterwards). After the tour, I had lunch at the Taproom and tried some beers. The food and beer was both excellent. I tried 805, a blonde ale, DBA, Velvet Merlin, an oatmeal stout and their porter, Walker's Reserve. I'd recommend them all! The Taproom was much larger and busier than I expected, but we were able to grab some seats at the bar without a problem. If you're near Paso Robles, I'd recommend a stop at Firestone Walker, but save your time and skip the tour.

My boyfriend and I decided to go for a beer tasting. I heard of friends who have been here and said the beer tasting was good so we decided to check it out. It's in Paso Robles and you can see the brewery right next to the freeway so its not too difficult to find. The staff was very helpful and friendly, the tour was great and the beer was tasty! I accidentally knocked over a pint glass and they were super nice about it and told me not to worry about it. This place is definitely worth a visit!

Ran the gauntlet at the bar here one afternoon. Had some GREAT beers, had some interesting beers, had some OK beers, and had some beers you can't get anywhere else but at the brewery. Had someone else drive home too. Nice alternative to wine tasting next time you are in Paso.

My only wish is wider availability of Firestone Double DBA. The brewery side has tastings and it's totally corporate unlike hitting up one of the several San Diego breweries where tastings are really laid back. Restaurant side has great food and service to match.

There are angels everywhere. That is my motto. Be careful who you are treating like sh*t, they could be a your mayor, a real angel, or god forbid, a popular beer blogger. We landed at Firestone Walker Tap Room after quite a few attempts. On our way to Los Angeles, we tried to stop at the Buellton location. When we arrived, the parking lot was jammed packed with cars. As we exited our car, a guy working there snorted, "You obviously don't know we are closed for construction." Then got in his car, blocking me between my car and the wall and drove off. Nice. We decided we would stop at the Paso Robles location on our way back home. However, if you miss the exit, you will be sent into Mister Toad's Wild Ride of Pasture Land trying to find your way back. Regardless, my sweet husband, not a real angel, but a real beer blogger was so excited, like a kid heading into Willy Wonka's factory. My man loves beer, he tells everyone, but he really loves his old 805 stomping ground. Imagine my dismay, when I returned from the ladies room to see my man still beerless at the bar. I thought maybe the bar wench was waiting for me to take his order. I plopped down in excitement to see my man so happy to be home again. Then. We. Sat. At. The. Corner. Of. The. Bar. Forever. Parched. Beerless. Tall Blonde Bar Wench never looked our way again. Ever. Come to find out from Husband, Tall Blonde Bar Wench was snappy with my Husband because he didn't know what beer he wanted right when he sat down. I guess his desire to read the tap list, put Tall Blonde Bar Wench on edge. Being a former restaurant manager, I immediately assessed the situation. Tall Blonde Bar Wench was training a sweet girl who wasn't quite sure if it was her responsibility to check in on us. Training Girl had several conversations with Tall Blonde Bar Wench and Tight Bun Seemed Liked a Manager about whether we had been served. When Sweet Training Girl made eye contact with us, I said, "Yes!, we are thirsty!" She took great care of us. Tall Blonde Bar Wench never looked at us again, nor did Tight Bun Seemed Liked a Manager, despite the confusion over taking our order. Beer was good. Food was fine. Training Girl was awesome. Knowing the ins and outs of the food service business, I asked Training Girl if she got tips while she was training. "Not yet." she replies. I open my husband's wallet and hand her some cash. My only regret? I didn't give her more. My husband, not a real angel, but a real beer blogger, left with slumped shoulders and a crushed spirit after our experience at Firestone Walker Tap Room in Paso Robles. Luckily, when we arrived at Lagunitas in Petaluma, Ca, they treated everyone like a friend. Husband didn't tell anyone there who he was, and they still treated him like a King. When they found out who he was, they gave us free beer and swag. We weren't expecting special service at Firestone Walker, just service. Remember, Angels, and Beer Bloggers are everywhere. Two tips, put Training Girl in charge. She was the only with a smile. And SIGNAGE PEOPLE, SIGNAGE.

Firestone is easily my favorite craft beer, and the fact that they're so close and thus so much of their product is available means I get to try tons of varieties. The visitors center not so much. They charge more per taste than the bottles cost, and they list it on the menu as 3oz taste but only pour 1-1.5oz. It's almost like they'd rather discourage you from trying anything available more widely. The ones that are only available here aren't too special. The hef is a hef. The double DBA is much more like barely wine - sweet and syrupy with no taste of the high alcohol. Sucuba actually is a barley wine and isn't much different. The velvet Merlin on nitro was an experience, but I actually kind of like it from the bottle or regular tap more. The only really memorable part of either tasting was comparing wookie and double jack side by side. That really makes you appreciate them both more. If only they had some breadsticks to clear your palate, though. The tour is pretty cool. It's crazy to see the foam slopping out of the giant steel stills. It's a longer tour than you'd expect, going from offices to a birds eye view to the production line. Very educational. Ultimately my only reason to stop in is to get gifts anymore, though I do appreciate the tastings I've had.

Cool place, good customer service. I like their Union Jack IPA and UDBA. Fries in fish and chips were good as well. If you use the bathroom in the Visitor center you'll see the beers being made. Overall a good experience

I said it when I was there, "This is my Happy Place!" I didn't even know the brewery was on our way to Cambria so when I saw the billboard I knew we weren't eating a late lunch at El Pollo Loco! I had a 4 flight beer tasting followed up by a flute glass for a fragrant wonderful stout. The pizza's not bad either. Ah, one bad thing, the shirts look great but they SUCK! Please guys, switch the shirt! Looking forward to the next visit.

Firesone & Walker are doing some really great things with all the delicious beer they are making. I am especially a big fan of the sour/farmhouses they are doing over at barrellworks. I read a lot of reviews and noticed one thing in common. BAD SERVICE IN THE TAPROOM! The servers and the rest of the staff are severly overwhelmed! We were seated drinks were served and orders were placed. I ordered a salad with no bleu cheese and no bacon. I got the salad with bleu cheese and had it sent back. It comes back with no bleu cheese but now it had a ton of bacon on it. At this point I was already pretty hungry and tried to eat around it but stopped halfway through. When they finally did come back I told them what happened and didnt seem to really care. I dont remember the last time it took over an hour and a half to get 3 salads 1 fry appitizer and some beers. I'm almost 100% certain mgmt knows how bad it is in there and either dont care or just dont want Mr.Firestone and Mr.Walker to find out. We didnt even have a manager come and apoligize for everything. We had to basically chase our server down for the bill and finally left. Not going back to the taproom again. You guys really need to figure out what or who the problem is. Customer service is very very important. Stop dropping the ball.

My husband & I took the tour, which was really great, and then ate at the restaurant right across the street. We were a little disappointed as it seemed all the beers we wanted to try were out, and most of the menu did not incorporate their beers. We've visited some brewery restaurants in the San Diego area that incorporated their beers into nearly every dish and everything was delicious. The lackluster service also made our visit just okay. I don't think we'd visit the restaurant again, but if we're craving a cold DBA, we'll visit the tour bar across the street.

Its Friday night and the Mid State Fair is in town this place should be jumping and packed. Its empty and my party of 5 get seated right away, I thought that was great, seems there was a reason...Poor and slow service and mediocre food. Service here is very slow and I've had numerous wait staff come and go since I've frequented here, all a sign of possible bad management. Kobe beef patty is nothing special and burger had what looked to be commercially supplied chopped lettuce and tomatoes, nothing cooked to perfection here or out of the ordinary. In their defense, Beers are good, sometimes real good. But with not so great food and poor service, it will be the death of this place for sure. They are just lucky riding the wave of all the new breweries opening up in the area. Funny thing is the location in Bulleton is great, even the food is much better. Sadly, this place won't last, I would be willing to bet money on it.

Went there last week with a large group and no reservations. They were very accommodating. Made room on patio and even split our very large check up. That must have been a pain in the rear, but our waiter was more than happy. Great service from the wait staff. Food was above average for bar / pub. I had a salad my wife had a burger. Both satisfying but not wowed. Beer was very good, lots of tasty options. Following the dinner we all went inside to the bar. Bartenders were terrible . The bar itself was pretty open and there was more than enough staff, but we had to beg them to poor a beer. I honestly thought I was being punked. Please just pour me a beer every once in a while! Great experience until the end. Terrible bar tenders.

Sat at the bar facing the kitchen, great spot to catch the culinary action if the "real" bar is packed...as it was on a Friday night. Beto's fish tacos are a MUST HAVE! This place has a great feel to it. Big and open. We always enjoy sitting at the bar and we got lucky there was 2 sears left when we walked in. The Beer was of course fantastic. They have a taproom only beer selection that I found very fun. The food was so so. Pretty much what I have come to expect from brewery food. The Apple goat cheese salad was my favorite. The bacon grilled cheese was very disappointing since they basically forgot that when you call something a "Bacon Grilled Cheese" you probably don't want to go skimpy on the bacon. The bartenders were all friendly enough but they seamed a bit slammed and I would have liked a little more time to talk about there fantastic beers but I understand. I would defiantly go back but I will eat lunch before I go next time.

While it may not be the Willy Wonka of beers like Stone Brewery Garden is a couple hundred miles south from here - but when it comes to a nice barrel aged beer, you can't get any better than these folks. Every beer in the house is tasty - and they have a lot of them. The moment you step inside you're treated to this sort of industrial revolution wonderland of visual stimulant - let alone the amount of enjoyment your taste buds are going to feel once any of their brews hit. You can go for a sampler flight, a half pint or a full pint of their beer board. Seasonal beers/high gravity brews get served in a snifter, but considering the punch they pack, that's all you really need. Their year-round offerings will hit the spot and the level of dining can be selected by either fine - with a server and booths, or just chilling at the tables in the bar area. Food prices for entrees range a bit higher than you would come to expect, but then again you are in Paso Robles and considering you're in an area that caters to folks on wine tours and hitting up wineries, the prices are pretty comparable to similar style dishes anywhere else around here. I had the fish and chips and I just loved the batter that had Double Bitter Ale, their flagship beer mixed in. The combination worked perfect for a nice crispness and the fish inside did not suffer the mistake most fish and chips places do in not seasoning both the fish and the batter. Making every bite of it just amazingly tasty. The waitress was a little absent minded but it's well forgiven considering the seating arrangement meant I was sort of on the boarder town of their section. Besides that, they were very helpful otherwise. My advice - stick to the appetizers unless you're really hungry or you've had a few two many of their excellent beer options and have to soak it up somehow. They have a soft pretzel that is incredibly tasty and comes with their signature Firestone Walker mustard cheese monster of a creation that it's too crazy to replicate at home but too amazing to ever let disappear. It's really good and only runs you about $4. So if you're lamenting over the higher priced food, stick to the beer buddies. And when it comes to beer, you seriously can't go wrong with anything they serve. One of the best breweries around.

While working in the Paso Robles vicinity, my colleague suggested a visit to the Firestone Walker brewery. Hailing from the far away land of Ohio, I had never heard of the brand. Much to my delight, the beer and food experience was excellent! The only beer that I ordered was the Velvet Merlin, but it was smooth, creamy porter that was absolutely delicious. I would suggest pairing it with the enormous Mud Pie dessert -- the peanut butter ice cream, chocolate top, and oreo crust flavors blend extremely well with that beer! As for the food entrees, I sampled the BBQ chicken pizza and a house salad with my friend. For a micro brewery, the food was well-prepared and tasted great! The menu was very diverse and I would definitely make a few return trips if given the chance in the future. Firestone is truly a gem among the many establishments in the central coast area!

Ok the long and short of this place is definite go for the beer. F/W has some of my favorite beer ever from the woodie jack and hammersmith to my favorite the unfiltered DBA! The restaurant is cool and kind industrial looking the bar serve all the beer they but unlike the tasting room they serve full meals in a nice setting. It's definitely worth stopping at if you're going through paso. The food was priced a little high for the quality but about right for area. I got a pork chop and was less than impressed it was cooked until bone dry and pretty gross the glaze was good and not to sweet but couldn't make up for the poorly cooked chop that I couldn't even finish. I was also a little surprised when the waitress asked if it was good and I told her "no it was dry" that she had nothing to say didn't even credit me a sample beer or anything. Every one around me appeared to have a better dish so maybe I got the unlucky draw that night. The food isn't as good as the beer but not terrible.

My friend and I decided to stop by here on our way back to SLO. I have to say, we should have kept driving. We both ordered the Kobe beef burger. My friend ordered his medium rare and I order it medium well. To our surprise, he received medium well, and I recieved burned! Mine was seriously inedible, and my friend was more upset than I was. I do have to say that the manager came by after we spoke with our waiter. He took care of the burgers and asked that we give them another try. However, this place has a lot of promise, but no follow through. I will give it another shot perhaps this summer. That will give them ample time to hopefully find some new cooks, as this is the second kitchen fail.. Service was good all the way around.

Hey you first timers - if you're planning to hang around the bar, check out the pretzel dispenser near the bathroom! We were hungry. We ordered a giant pretzel. On our way out, we found the pretzel dispenser. Dang it. They have great prices for tastings, but I stuck to the Parabola and a red - I think it was the Red Nectar, I should have paid more attention. But unfortunately, the Parabola just blew my mind and garnered all of my attention. I love this beer. Firestone, you get all 5 stars for putting this thing together, and having it on tap for me at just the right time. Bravo.

This place is an awesome brewery to visit. They have to die for beers on tap with a great selection to choose from. The tasting room is very open and has many places to sit. They also have souvenirs to take home to support your love for the brewery! There is even pizza to eat! My favorite is the double barrel IPA!!!

We have passed this brewery many times on our trips to Paso, and my husband loves their beer, so we were excited to finally have a chance to sit down to a meal there with some friends. The first red flag was when the waitress came to our table to announce the special. She informed us that it came with 'some type of soggy salad stuff' and that she didn't personally care for it. Then, she literally snapped her fingers at the Hispanic kid that was filling up the water and beckoned him to our table with a wave of her hand. She gave us a quick wink and said, "I don't speak Spanish". Later in our meal the boy spoke to us in perfect English as he asked if we would like more water. The second red flag was when they refused to cook a Kobe beef burger at any wellness below medium. I can only assume that this is because they have had complaints from people who ordered the burger medium rare and had it returned. I was disappointed that I couldn't get the burger cooked to my liking, especially since I believe cooking Kobe beef over any temp above medium rare is a sin. It was still an OK burger, but it was nothing special. My friends ordered the panko tuna. Let's just say they were less than impressed. I warned them, you don't go to a burger joint and order fish, especially in the country. The panko was soggy and the tuna was overcooked. Another member of our party had the short ribs. They were actually pretty good. Again, short ribs is probably one of the things that they know how to do well seeing as how they are a meat and potato type of place. The service was not good. The prices were way too high. The food was nothing special. I don't mind paying for good food, but it's disappointing when you pay a high price and don't get what you hope for. The beer, though.... the beer was delicious.

I stopped at Firestone with some friends on our way to a concert in Pozo. We were hoping to grab a burger and a beer for lunch. Unfortunately their lunch menu only consists of pizza and pretzels. We ordered a couple of pizzas, a pretzel, and some beer samplers. The pizzas were not great. They were personal sized. The first one was a mushroom pizza that we opted to add pepperoni to, the pepperoni was basically cold and unappetizing. The 2nd one was a bit better, it was topped with bell peppers, feta, and kalamata olives. Again, this pizza didn't come out piping hot and probably could have used some more time in the oven. The pretzel was also just ok, it was served with Fitestone's house made stone ground honey mustard, I wanted to just keep eating the mustard. The beer, thank god, was delicious!! In my sampler I had their, red nectar ale, the hemp ale, the solace, and their honey wheat. All of the beers were great. I picked up a 32 of the hemp ale to enjoy later!

Made an impromptu stop here on the drive up from the central coast. We were hoping to get a tour of the place, but unfortunately they were all booked up and had a long waiting list. My boyfriend and I enjoyed looking at all of the merchandise they had and seeing the different types of beer that we didn't know they made. We figured that we would grab a taste since we were there anyway. Their samples cost between $1.50-$3 per glass. The staff is very frinedly and knowledgeable. They are more than happy to help you decide which beer would be best for your palate. The tasters came in very cute cups and they give you a decent amount for $1.50. We tried the Pilsner, which was meh, and the Rye Ale, which we ended up purchasing. Next time I think we will make a more planned stop here and wait to go on the tour. We'll probably try out the restaurant as well.

While in Paso Robles we went on a tour at Firestone. It was our first time on a brewery tour and the knowledge of everyone who worked at the facility was refreshing. While waiting for the tour we had a tasting at the gift shop and the young men who worked there spoke with us about everything from Firestone beer, to brewing your own beer. A great time was had and it was a perfect break from wine tasting.

The first time I came here I was alone, sat at the bar and received excellent service. That visit would have been 5 stars... Came today with my mom and grandparents around 3:30. I walk in alone to see if there's a wait for dining room, no one greeted me, I finally flag the hostess down and she just says 'oh the dining room is closed.' I said why? She just says 'well there's a sign on the door that says it's closed.' Not sure how that was an explanation. My party joined me inside and another worker (seemed like maybe the manager?) overheard me complaining about the hostess' attitude and explained that the dining room is closed for an hour between lunch and dinner but we were welcome to sit in the bar or patio. Every other worker we encountered was great; however the initial impression from the snippy hostess put a bad taste in my mouth. Great service! As this is a brewery, they provide pretty decent sample sizes of their beers. Our server Kevin noticed that my friend's salmon ($19) was pretty small in size, he offered an additional entree- free of charge- without us having made any complaints. A must try in San Luis Obispo of looking for a great place to chill and have a few beers with friends. Note: underaged guests are allowed in, just so long as it's not at the bar counters. :)

Paso is the perfect place to stop between San Francisco and Santa Barbara. It's usually sunny, warm, and there's just enough dining options. Usually breweries aren't my go-to for a meal. That doesn't mean I won't try the beer, but ask most folks in the industry and they'll agree: food isn't their forte. Firestone Walker is an exception. Maybe it's because they're on the Central Coast and have access to fresh produce? Perhaps it's the local demand? I dunno, but they get props for their salads, sandwiches, fries and traditional American fare. Pair it with a saison or pilsner and you've got a TGIF meal for sure. Reasonable prices and nice servers make this a great stop along the way to SoCal. Tour or not, try the beer... DUH.

So what! Yeah they have some good beers. Good beer doesn't make a good tasting room. Cruising down the coast for the day, stopping in for a tasting the wife and me. We're older but not "ancient" either. We slip up to the bar between some hipster youths spending some money buying signs and bottles to go and a couple throwing names around like there family. We half heartily get our flight, pay and good buy. Now, I say all that not because I'm hurt and feel unimportant. Working with the public for 35yrs. I have a since of fairness. Profiling is alright when your in danger but tasting rooms...not so mush. Last words...I've got money...we would've bought more.

As a non beer drinker, I wasn't super excited about stopping by this place on our road trip, but I'm always down for trying new things! There's two Firestone locations here, the actual brewery where they've got tastings, a gift shop, and the brewery tour and then there's the TapRoom restaurant next door. They've also got tastings and a gift area, but it's not a brewery experience, it's a restaurant. We went to the brewery, being told it was funner tasting there. They offer about 10 different of their beers to taste in little sniffer glasses, each ranging from $1.50-$3.25, not bad if you ask me! That said, I tried their barley wine, Agrestic, Easy Jack, and 805. I was excited when I saw the word "wine" but do not be misled as I was friends, it is a far cry from wine. It's got bourbon in it, and is their most alcoholic thing on the tasting menu. I got a big chocolatey after taste, something I normally love but not so much in my alcohol. The 805 is the lightest on the menu and it was my favorite. It's a fun place to stop by for a quick visit, stretch your legs, and have a beer sample or two. Fellow beer drinkers will enjoy themselves.

I am not the hugest fan of Firestone Walker beers, but since it is on tap at my regular sushi place, I'll often enjoy one with my meal. We were up in Paso for a few days of wine tasting, when I decided to take a beer tasting tour here and follow it up with lunch at their restaurant. The tour was a good one, with plenty of tastes, lots of good stops -- from the quality control room (which I have never seen on any other brewery tour) to the blind tasting area to the bottling area --, a fun tour guide who photobombed me, and a lot of interesting info. After the tour finished, we left the gift shop and tasting room and walked across the parking lot to their restaurant. We grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered lunch and some full sized quaffs. I had a the Ahi Tostada for lunch which was D-LISH-OUS! No doubt in my mind that was the best tostada that my mouth ever greeted. The wife had the very hearty bratwurst sandwich: I had a couple of bites of that, and it gets a very solid thumbs up as well. Between the fun tour and the good food at the restaurant, I am giving this place 4.5 stars for the whole experience, and rounding it up to a 5.

We stopped there with the kids and dogs on our way back from Santa Barbara. Our waiter was great, brought a bowl of water for the dogs and did a great job serving. I got the burger which was $16. It was good, not great, and it was $16. My kids both got fish and chips, which were also good. And they were $18/each. My wife got the chop salad which was good also but expensive. Bottom line is that although we may go there again, the prices were pretty steep. We don't mind paying good money for meals, but brewery food is not normally this expensive.

Please let me start by saying I LOVE Firestone beer! I have loved them for years! I have been to the brewery and tasting room many times both recently and in the past. Of course, in the past, Firestone brewery was small, intimate, and oriented towards enthusiasm for having people taste good beer. I wish I could say the same for the last two visits, both in the last 4 weeks. During the most recent visit the service in the tasting room was downright rude. I stood at the counter patiently waiting to order my flight and the man behind the counter looked at me and said "Do you need something?" (In a rude tone that took me by surprise). Seriously, yes I need something! Service please.... I order my flight (he seemed bothered to give it to me), and when I asked a question he said "someone else can help you, I'm going to do a tour". Ummmmm yeah..... I asked to order a pint (which you used to be able to do) and I was waved over to the bar. Fair enough, but do you have to be so rude about it? Paid for my shirt, growler, root beer, and pretzels. My son finished his root beer and I asked the same guy (who never went and did a tour I might add) "Do you recycle?". His response? "I should say yes, but yeah, no". He took the bottle and threw it in the trash and turned back to me and gave me a look like "are you happy?". The entire experience in the tasting room was horrific. Visited the merchandise store and had excellent service. Excellent beer, service seems a little subpar. Maybe they are so big now that they don't feel they need to offer good service to customers?

A very nice pit stop on the road to/from SLO, that's for sure! PARKING. There's no lot, but there is tons of street parking both in front of the place, and facing the highway, so even when it's crowded, it isn't too bad. LOCATION. The place is split up into two buildings - the brewery itself, and the restaurant (with a bar). We ended up sitting at the bar for a little bit to enjoy a sampler of some of their beers (huge variety, seriously), but headed over to the brewery after to check it out. Both locations are quite nice. THE BREWERY. Our biggest regret was that we didn't book a tour of the brewery in time. Spaces fill up fast, and we didn't feel like waiting to see if they'd add us on at the last minute. The place itself is basically a taproom, with the brewery right behind it. It's much smaller than the restaurant area, so getting served can be hit or miss, depending on the day/time. Overall, I'm a fan of this place. They have some fun beers on tap (including one or two you can only buy there!), and have growlers for the beers that you want to keep enjoying later on. Well worth the stop!

Firestone is a brewery that really gives me mixed feelings. I love their beer, restaurant, and facility but there are a few things that drive me crazy. Lets talk about the good things first. Firestone beer has quickly gained popularity on the west coast over the last few years and for good reason. The beer is amazing! You would be hard pressed to go to any restaurant or bar in the central coast and not find the bright "805" light hanging in the window. A couple of my favorites: The "805" is a perfectly balanced blonde ale which has become one my favorite summertime drinks. The "Pale 31" has also thrown its hat into the ring among some of the best pale ales that you can find. The ring leader of the group for me though is the "Bretta Weisse." Bretta Weisse was discovered in my Hometown of Reno and it was the driving force for visiting the brewery. The taproom and restaurant at Firestone Walker is visually stunning. Everywhere you look there is something to captivate you. The decor throughout the place is mostly all found object style artwork, and those found objects are from brewing tools. There is a wide open floor plan with booths, tables, and bar seating. The food here is not the best in Paso Robles but it is certainly worth a visit. In the back of the building you will find a store where you can purchase Firestone beer and merchandise. I was looking to buy as much of the Bretta Weisse as they would allow me to, unfortunately they didn't have any. The man working the counter was so informative. He knew everything about every beer. It was really impressive. I spoke to him for a little while about sour ales and since they didn't have any, he sold me a special raspberry sour that was being held for himself. That was definitely the highlight of this trip to the brewery. With no sours on hand, I purchased a few cases of 805 and we were off. My problem with Firestone Walker is in their decision making. They choose not to sell the 805 in Reno and I have been given two explanations, neither are acceptable in my opinion. One employee told me that "they are not interested in the Nevada market." That is both arrogant and ignorant. Nevada is state with 24 hour drinking, and we love our beer. We are the the closest bordering state to the central coast of California and they already distribute many other Firestone beers here. Really piss poor logic on that account. The second guy we asked told us, "we don't distribute to Nevada because the labeling on the 805 doesn't sell it well. There is nothing to tell the buyer what it is." Ummm Firestone sells the 805 in 23 states! Pretty sure the labeling isn't any easier for other states to read than in Nevada. If the labeling is an issue, it sure seems like a quick fix to maximize product sales.

DISCLAIMER: Firestone Walker has been my favorite brewery for the past few years due to the quality and consistency of each of their beer lines. Seriously, I have yet to encounter a beer from them that I disliked. The brewery and tasting room here in PR are amazing. The tasting room has most of their regular beer lines (pivo pils, wookey jack, etc.) as well as some of their rotating/collabs. Great tasting beers, all of them. Then, the brewery tour itself (free on weekdays and 3 bucks on weekends) was a nice short little tour of their facilities that took us back to the brewery's history and brewing techniques. The tour included tasting a couple of their beers, even one from their library. It was great. Will definitely come back if given the chance.

Yummy appetizers and beers. The calamari and mac and cheese were particularly awesome. The coconut prawns were also good. On a Friday night they were out of 2 drafts which were their signature tap house drafts- get it together you guys! But for two beers and four tasty appetizers we only had a $50+ tab which really wasn't that bad. We had two super friendly servers who were very attentive. They gave us a warning for last call at 9:15 pm which was also pretty lame - if we had known that beforehand we would have started our night someplace else.

A Firestone Walker variety pack is what's usually in our garage fridge so when we were invited to go wine tasting up in Paso Robles we made plans to stop at the Firestone Walker tasting room. I like the DBA, Pale Ale & 805. My husband likes the Union Jack IPA & Pale Ale. I had read some of the negative reviews about how crowded the tasting room gets & how inattentive the servers were but I'm happy to report that our experience was all good. It probably helped that we arrived at 3:00pm on a Friday. We got seats right at the bar and received friendly helpful service. I had the Opal, a Farmhouse Saison and my husband had the Pale Ale. I also had a taster of the Stickee Monkee, a Belgian Quad that was only available in the tasting room for now. It was a delicious caramely tasting brew. Our server told us that we should check out the cold storage Brewery Store where we could buy beers for home. As we were admiring some of the bottles in the tap room, we were approached by a guy named Mike who was nice enough to walk us over to the store. On the way over he told us that Firestone Walker is setting up shop in Venice Beach, CA. Yay! Closer to us is mo better for us! We bought a couple bottles of the Opal & a 12 pack of 805 for the weekend. We will definitely make it a point to stop here on our next trip up to Paso Robles or Sonoma.

Food is not their forte. I ordered a chopped salad. At other restaurants, I have ordered a chopped salad, and the lettuce is chopped, but the blue cheese, eggs, bacon, etc., are not chopped so small that you can't find them. Unfortunately, everything was chopped into tiny, tiny, bits. It was difficult to find the good stuff. In fact, it may have been mostly lettuce. On the top of the salad, there was a quarter of a sliced avocado. That was the best part. Unfortunately, I was taking some medication and could not drink alcohol. I asked if they had home brewed root beer or nonalcoholic beer (something that is available in most brew pubs), the answer was NO!

In the middle of wine country, here sits a (not so hidden) getaway for beer lovers. They offer tours of the whole facility, but I recommend booking in advance because they generally sell out early. We were't able to book a tour so we walked around ourselves and found a secret shop in the back that sells home brewing instruments and kits. They have nice display windows throughout that showcases the brewing process. Pretty neat! We came in at night and sat at the bar for dinner. The taproom restaurant has decent amount of seating, and a large bar area. The tasting room itself was a little small, gets really crowded and hard to find a spot for your flight. Food was pretty typical american bar food. Service was great, bartender was friendly. Plenty of beers to try and taste!!

The first time we came here was a a few years back for a wedding rehearsal dinner. This time we stopped in for a casual dinner. We felt like having beers and some solid food. We were led to a nice booth in the restaurant and I ordered the 805 Blonde Ale. I opted to order the Beto's Fish Tacos ($18). This came with 3 crispy fried fish tacos, avocado with a side fruit salad. The fiancé ordered the 10oz New York ($24) with sautéed beans and fries. The portion was generous and the food was pretty tasty. Our brews paired with our food definitely made our night. We loved the atmosphere and the service was good.

Went for a flight. And some food. Atmosphere is good and light and airy and fun music but not a place for great food. Ok food. Ribs were dry. Chicken wings were dry. However the sauce was good on both. Caesar was a good portion but no lemony, garlic, or anchovy flavor which I like, but maybe you don't. They bring a kind of big basket of bread but it only contains 4 small slices of a baguette. Ok I am picky. Won't eat there again but my daughter says the 805 gelato is really good.

This tour was great! I love how Firestone was associated with the actual Firestone tires at one time =) During the tour we were told that the brewery was some other brand and then Firestone took over... some old employee from the previous brewery was breaking into the new Firestone brewery and doing his own experiments and mastering the brew! The guys hired him .. LOOOL! I love it! Because of this guy who broke in you now taste some fine brews =) Weird way of hiring someone, but a very smart decision!! Wanna make the tour girl blush? Ask what "Merkin" means =) They have a hat that says "Velvet Merkin" with an upside down triangle.. do some research on it and you'll have a nice laugh! Would I come back: Oh yes!

Love the variety of limited release, brewery-only beer options at Firestone. The Anniversary Ale was great this year. This is the last year they are producing a Double DBA - this amazing beer has the body (and alcohol percentage) of a barley wine yet the color and elegance of the mainline DBA. Eat at the taproom and pair some beer with the delicious DBA Brautwerst Skillet Mac and Cheese!

Amazing!! So happy the boyfriend wanted to stop by after our trip to pismo! Monday through Friday there is free tours and Saturday and Sunday is only 3 dollars. Across from the main entrance where your tour begins is a restaurant and gft shop. On this 45 min tour you are given 2 complimentary drinks and given a tour inside the brewery. The tour guide was full of interesting facts about Firestone.

I took the brewery tour and it was great! I learned a lot about their brewing process, and I love that the tour is free (reservations required). I never knew that Firestone Walker had so many beers that I can't normally get in the Bay Area, as well as limited releases that aren't served outside of their tap room. Got to try some of the limited release XVIII and XVII, as well as the Unfiltered DBA, 805, and a few other ones. I've always been a fan of their Pale Ale and the DBA, but I love these other special brews even more! Definitely worth a stop if you're in the Paso Robles area!

I had been wanting to try this place out for years. Since the growing popularity of the 805 beer, I've heard good stuff about their brewery. Finally got the chance to visit the brewery in Paso Robles, and it was everything I expected. Great beer! They have two places to try their beer, the Tasting Room and the restaurant. I'd recommend going to their Tasting Room first and trying out their beers first, since they only serve them in tasters and NO pints. And there are 4 beers that they only serve at the Tasting Room, and not at the restaurant. My favorite beer was the Velvet Merlin, which I eventually got a pint of over at the restaurant. I tried out several of their beer tasters, and there really wasn't one that I didn't like, except this sour beer special they had, which I am not a big fan of sours in the first place. We ended up just sitting in the outside patio and I didn't try any of their food. Just the beer. Overall, the place is great. I would definitely stop here every time I am headed up north, it's worth the stop for their beer.

So, I read some pretty sh*tty reviews on TripAdvisor, and I just wanted to put my two cents in. First off, Firestone Walker has the best brewery tour ever. Reed was a great guide, so knowledgeable, and we even got to try the 2014 Parabola. You can tell that the employees are excited about their jobs. The Firestone Walker compound is HUGE and impressive. Also, the food in the Taphouse is super tasty. I gave FW 4 stars because the service in the Taphouse was a tad slow... and because the bartender told us he didn't give an F, since this was his last week at the brewery. Who says that? All in all, the Taphouse has a cool, laid back vibe. If you're a beer snob, check it out! The employees (in general) are just as excited to talk about beer as you are!

Great place to hang out and taste some good beer. There's two locations, one a tap room and the other a restaurant. They're across the street from each other. If you're looking to relax with not that much noise, go to the tap room. You'll be able to talk to the bartenders about beer. As for the beer, I really liked the Nitro DBA. Definitely try the beer that you can't bring home. Also, book the tour if you can. You'll be able to learn alot about beer and the history about Firestone. The tour is about an hour and you'll get to enjoy a few tasters. It's a little cold so bring a jacket. Overall Firestone is a great place to visit if you're on the way to slo or going up north. Highly recommended if you like beer.

Went to the restaurant side of the brewery for dinner and luckily found a table at the bar so we didn't have to wait 30 min. The bartender was a cool guy and the food here was great! We got here probably around 8ish so the tasting room was closed. They still had a great selection of their beers here so we got a couple pints to enjoy with our food. Overall, the food was great, the service was exceptional and we had ourselves a nice time. The next day my gf and I actually came back to check out the tasting room. It was around 12 and it was pretty crowded to my surprise. The tasting room had a lot more specialty beers that was not served in the restaurant. I wanted to do a tour but one of the guys said that we would have to make a reservation in advance online. We did take a look around the brewery because the place was so big. Theres actually a map of the place sorta like a school campus map haha My gf ended up buying a snifter for a souvenir and we left. I definitely would like to come back and try a lot of their other beers and food! great place to hangout especially if your in paso robles and your trying get something to drink other than wine!

Before I start this review, a caveat to those that visit Firestone Walker Brewing Company in search of beers that end in -bola and -caba: if it is FW's BA assortments you seek, you're looking for the visitor center across the street from the taproom which closes at 4pm. If you have no interest in food and are instead all about the booze, I suggest you visit Firestone Walker's Barrelworks in Buellton instead (where they have older vintages of aforementioned beers plus whatever Barrelworks offerings currently in season) My visit to the Firestone Walker Taproom made the trek from LA to SF so much more relaxing than it should have been; never minding the god awful stretch on the 46 between Lost Hills and Paso Robles, and the fact that crossing over to the brewery past the freeway bypass on the 101 could be less confusing. First of all, don't be like me and get paranoid about parking as soon as you pull up to Ramada Dr. and park almost a quarter mile away from the brewpub; there actually is a small lot-ish area close to the brewpub where you can and your designated driver can park your vehicle. The brewpub itself feels much like a bierhof or a beer hall; the main serving area is somewhat enclosed into a giant square with tables on the outer edges of the area; there's a small souvenir area where you can get FW's awesome Bear/Lion paraphernalia to the right of the area; you can also grab bottles to go by the counter at the far right corner of the serving area. I fortunately had no issue getting the wait staff's attention while eating/drinking here, but I can definitely see how this place might get packed during the evening. I ordered the fish and chips and paired it with Easy Jack as was the recommendation per the bartender and I wasn't disappointed -- actually pretty much nothing could have soiled my meal as I promptly followed my Easy Jack with Parabojava which I can still taste on the tip of my tongue just thinking about it. I'd definitely recommend this place if you're very particular about beer but quite flexible about food; the food here may leave you a little wanting if you're expecting gourmet style meals.

Everything here was great - food, beer, service. We sat at the bar and ordered the Hammersmith IPA and the burger and fries. Everything was delicious, and they didn't charge us a splitting plate fee. It's very spacious and I can't wait to go back for a tour next time!!! It can get crowded, but for good reason. A nice place to stop on your way up the coast! :)

The brews are decent and the facility is top notch. I've been to several breweries from San Diego to Seattle and Firestone is defintely one of the nicest. Worth a stop when you're in the central coast area. Try the pretzel with your beer!

One of the great breweries of the world. The offerings of ales is unrivaled in this country. The brewmasters have the ability of using ingredients in the mash to end up with a superior taste. I have tasted beer that tasted of skunk piss and this brew is on the opposite end of that spectrum. I will guarantee you that this is the ale being served in Valhalla.

The only reason this isn't 5 stars is because quality control with your vendors is shorty. I know you can't keep tabs on what they sell, but you have a 120 day rule and from my local liquor store they sell 365+ day 805. Very disappointing in comparison to drinking it at the right dates. Maybe I need to take it up with the vendor, but if its with you I'm here for feedback as well. I LOVE your 805 and converted my hubby to it too. Love this ale!

My girlfriend and I stopped at Firestone on the way back up to Northern California from a weekend in Pismo, we were quite disappointed. Despite the fact that 80% of their beers do not stand out (exclusions from that statement being the Stickeee Monkey, Opal Saison and Wild Ale) this place could still be something great due to it's location and ambiance....but then comes the staff. The bar was crowded, sure. There were four people "working" that I could count and three of those were pouring. It seemed like every five minutes three employees with the exception of one male would go into a back room and chat and joke around. I could see them through a window. Meanwhile the one guy left alone had no sense of urgency and did not acknowledge new comers. While he was still working I saw four people (two separate couples) leave out of frustration. Aside from those four it was apparent that everyone was frustrated by the wait, indifference and rudeness of the staff. There are plenty of superior breweries to go to in the region. Don't waste your time with Firestone.

Cool place, great beer, but really poor service. We sat at the bar and apparently there was a shift change and we were pretty much ignored. In addition, over half of their menu was unavailable on a Saturday afternoon. We wanted to order more but could not get service. Disappointing especially since we went out of our way to stop there. Also it was our friends first time needless to say they were not impressed and ended up leaving.

The Panko encrust Ahi is one of the best meals I've had. It is cooked to perfection and the Panko crust is crispy which gives it a nice texture. It is served with wasabi potatoes which adds just enough kick. I have had this many times and it is always cooked to perfection! If you don't want spicy, ask them to hold the red pepper in the slivered green beans. I will give them a five star as soon as they get their service perfected. It is typically a little slow but this dinner is worth waiting for!

Located conveniently off the 101, Firestone Walker is a must-visit brewery along the Central Coast. Admittedly, it is a long trip away from home, but if you're in the area, it's highly recommended. While I already knew this place brews delicious beers, what I didn't know was they also cook up some pretty rad food. Their campus includes The Taproom (restaurant and bar) as well as a visitor center/brewery tour area. We were on our way to Big Sur, and stopped through for lunch. I had the fish tacos, and they were excellent. Although I did not have beers straight from the tap, 805 is one of my summer favorites. So light & fresh! I definitely want to come back and spend more time in the area and enjoy some of their Taproom exclusives.

Let me be clear about this review. The four stars is for the brewery tour, tastings, and the little gift shop. You only get tasting size beer portions here. Which is great if you just want to see which Firestone beer you like. They also sell it bottled so you can take some to go. If you want a whole glass, some food, or a growler filled, you walk across the street to the restaurant. The restaurant was not good and you can look at my review for it. Anyway, I really enjoyed the tour. It wasn't too long. Apparently you have to make reservations for it. We did not but luckily they were able to squeeze us in. Luckily I saw in a review that you need to have closed toe shoes. We came prepared for that. I actually wanted to come check out the brewery because I'm a big fan of their "Double Jack" which is readily available in the town where I live. However, I've only tried it bottled and really wanted to try it on draft. During my tastings at the brewery, I discovered that I really liked another one of their beers, "Opal". One thing that surprised me about the tasting room and the restaurant is that they didn't offer their whole line up. Various beers were not available or sold out. It just kind of surprised me. Well, all I can say is that I recommend the brewery tour. Its quick and free. Then I recommend tasting their beers. If you like any of the beers. Find out if they are sold where you live. In my case, the beers sold in the stores where I live are cheaper then what they sell them for at the brewery. That was also kinds surprising.

After receiving a very lengthy personal response in my mailbox to my original Yelp review from Sarah at Firestone Visitor's Center I feel compelled to add to my last review. While some of the concerns I brought out still persist, Sarah took her time to provide a thorough explanation on why they do the things the way they do. While I may or may not personally agree with those reasons or perhaps in my opinion they should do things slightly different I appreciate that she took the time and actually answered some of the questions I had such as why closed toe shoes or glasses are required. The chances are you will be more than happy with the tour at Firestone. While the review is still 3 1/2 stars because the tour itself was not one of the best I ever had, I will go with the upper 3 1/2 which translates to 4. What is really awesome is that these folks care about their customers and their reputation and that is something to be admired. While I might not go for another tour (once is enough for most of the places, not just Firestone), I will not have a problem to stop by the sampling room when I am around next time. Their Customer Service awareness convinced me that it's worth to return... It surely helps that the beer is great too...

For this size of a brewery, I was expecting better. Nick was our server. Poor service. When I asked for a stout, I was told "We are out". I ordered a different beer. "We are out of that too". No offer of an alternative type of dark beer, yet I see multiple other customers with dark beers. Interesting how that works out. The food... Mediocre. A beer pretzel that was cold, a plain salad with chicken and an ok ahi. Nick... A word of advice.... Take the time with your customers to see what they like. You'll find a much more rewarding tip.

Firestone brewery is by a far top notch establishment with excellent customer service. I'm not the most knowledgable beer connoisseur and they helped me to understand the entire process. My only regret is that I live 30 minutes away so I can't exactly go there everyday :( Not only is there beer and tour amazing the tap room is an excellent establishment across the way to get a bite to eat while enjoying their quality beers.

Simply wide selection of great beers. I had the Wookey Jack with which was made from Rye and packs a malty and hoppy combo- big roasty malt flavors with balanced hop bitterness and spicy rye offer a full and complex texture with a refined bittered finish.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff make this place. It is right next to the brewery (the size of a factory) as well as all the packing and shipping facilities. Pretty impressive operation. We came at 7 on a Monday night and the restaurant wasn't too busy, but it looks like it could seat 300 people. Our server was super nice and helpful. She recommended beer for our beer drinker, helped us sort the OK food from the amazing, and dropped by to see how we were doing just enough. The steak I got was decent, the wine was wine, and the mac and cheese appetizer was amazing. Brought back a 6-pack for our co-worker since you can only get 805 in central california, he was super happy.

When I'm in Paso Robles, I normally go wine tasting, but since I blew my wine budget during a recent Mother's Day trip to Napa, it was time to try other less expensive options. So guess what? The hubby and I went to Firestone Walker Brewing Company instead. For $1.50 or $2, you can try their flights of locally brewed beers. My favorite is the Easy Jack Summer Session IPA. The hubby enjoyed Lil' Opal saison. Do you want to know a secret? :-) If you go to the gift shop behind the Tap Room, you can get a bottle of the Bretta Rose that you can't get in the tasting room. So after about $70 of damage, we had four beer tastings, a bag of pretzels, two 4-packs of DBA, one bottle of Lil' Opal, and one bottle of Bretta Rose! Not bad, eh? So why the 4 stars? Well, you can taste excellent beers for a decent price. You can join in the brewery tour. There is plenty of seating area when you're beer tasting. And the customer service is pretty good considering the tasting room gets really busy. Check this place out.

We've all had Firestone beer so the beer reviews are already available--you like them or you don't. As to the Brew Pub aspect, this place is great. I stopped in on a whim on a trip north, for work--not that it's pertinent to anything. The service was fast, friendly and efficient. I do know my beer but they don't make you feel like a douche if you don't. It's a great place to stop on the way up the 101 or a great destination location coming from the North or South.

We were in town for a wedding and found ourselves at Firestone Walker several times. The bartenders were attentive and friendly, excellent beer and a great place to enjoy the game. I can't remember ever liking so many beers from one brewery. The only reason I don't give it a 5 star is while the food was very good, it was inconsistent. The pulled pork sandwich was served on a ciabatta bread the second day that was much better than the hamburger bun it came on for my friend the night before.

Drove up here while visiting Buelton for a week where the other Firestone Walker location is. Scheduled a (free!) tour which was very in depth, which was preceded with some 3 oz pours in their tap room. The tour showed the labs, taste testing room, and the entire process of how the beers are made and bottled. I took tons of pictures, but would highly recommend anyone to take this tour who is a beer geek. Not only will you not get this tour elsewhere, other breweries do not do what Firestone does. It's amazing. I also love their food and many of their beers.

First of all, I love Firestone Walker. They make some of my all time favorite beers. The Black Rye IPA (bitter sweet IPA) , the Sucaba, the Parabola. (BTW, the Sucaba tastes like the alcoholic version of Parabola if it was boiled off and left with most of the alcohol). However, on this past trip to the tasting room here, I was disappointed. The Sucaba tasted water down. I was also disappointed this weekend because after traveling 150 miles in a car, hoping to get some beer home, only to find that there's no beer for sale in the growlers. NO BEER! Why? Because they don't have the caps to the growlers. They were also out of parabolas. Just didn't feel like shelling out $35 for a bottle of 2012. Well, we made the best of it and got the cool tour of the place. Went upstairs to see the tank . You'll see the bear and the lion fighting like their symbol. That's because it's a symbolism of the owners. Of where they're from and that they have sibling rivalries.. They make their own yeast here and if their beer all taste somewhat similar because it is! No need to go to white labs for yeast. Also upstairs is a blind tasting area, where they try their new products. On the wall are some of the older labels signs. We heard stories while up there that Firestone Walker pretty much bought this place which used to be another brewery and kept the brewer. We also got to view the tanks, the bottling line, some barrels. I was a little disappointed because after the tour there was no free tastings. No problem, we will pay but I was also disappointed because through a friend of mine, I heard they were making a sour called Bretta Rose. Of course, only to find out that it was only done in their other location 30 miles away in Buellton. I still love you guys, but please....if I'm going to drive over 2 hours for your beer, please make it worth while for me!

Let me start by saying this facility at 1400 Ramada Drive is the brewing operation, there is no food here. The food reviews you read here are for the Tap Room across the street with is also owned by Firestone Walker. The tour of the brewery is free and THEY GIVE OUT SAMPLE TASTINGS OF BEER! That being said, we found the tour to be pretty educational and fun. it lasted somewhere between 20 and 30 minutes and it places you right in the middle of the mixing and fermentation process.

Saw the Firestone Walker Brewery as we were driving on the freeway. It was lunch time so we thought we would give it a try. There was a wait so we went to eat in the bar and found a nice booth. Our waitress Sarah came by and took our drink order. Then we both ordered the brisket sandwich with the panko crusted onion rings. I was gonna order the open face turkey and split both with my husband but he wanted the whole sandwich to himself. So I got the same sandwich too. It was so good with the BBQ sauce. The onion rings were out of this world. Then my husband ordered the 805 beer. And then ordered the hefeweizen and that was delish. Sarah came over after we ate and explained what the letters next to the beer meant. We learned soooooooomich about the different beers. She was so knowledgeable on the beers. It was very informative. We really enjoyed it. Sarah was the best waitress we have ever had. So pleasant and such a happy person. Thanks Sarah for a wonderful lunch today!!

First time getting a tour of a brewery. I definitely suggest it if you have the time. These people are super knowledgeable about their beer and really friendly. Then again when we were there they weren't very busy and I'm sure the atmosphere is different when they are packed. Yes the bar area is small, and there isn't that much seating. However if you're a beer aficionado, it's definitely worth a stop.

What happened to firestone? This place used to be amazing. You would come in all day and havd cheap pints of great beer in a super mellow envirinment where the bartenders were laid back and would give you free tasters and cheap growlers of everything. Now it's overrun by old yuppies and populated by douchy bartenders that ring you up $2.70 for every shot glass sized taster of one of their good beers. They no longer sell pints (unless you want to go to the high end restaurant next door and will only drink the basic stuff that you can get at the store) and they no longer do growlers of any of their specialty beers. Closest thing is $16 for a 22 oz pre-packaged bottle from their cooler. I am glad you guys are doing well financially, but it is a shame that you allowed commercial success to kill firestone. I have been coming here for more than a decade, but today marks my last visit. I will also start buying other beers as me go to, since us loyal customers that help build and promote your brand for the last 15 years are clearly disposable to your company.

The beers are of course excellent. 13 options on tap today. The food is okay. I ordered the chicken Solace Picatta. The chicken was frankly a little on the dry side. V ordered the "Hearts of Romaine Caesar" which was basically a plate of screed dead lettuce, some a little limp, and some commercially mass produced croutons and dressing. A real let down. I so laced in the Union Jack IPA, however. Great ambiance, service.

I was passing by the SLO area and emailed to reserve a tour a few days prior, and never got an email back. Was annoyed with this so when I got there I asked for more help. The ladies in the visitor center/tasting room were very helpful, they said they could not offer a full tour because they were booked but were happy to arrange a walk through (a shorter tour), which was very accommodating of them considering the lack of response. The tasting room is cozy and they take good care of you. All the beers are delicious. The walk through was informative and the gentleman taking us was happy to answer all our questions and make recommendations of beers to try in the tasting room. Knocked a star off for the lack of response to my email but other than that it was a great experience!

Reserved a tour online, and came in on a Friday morning for it. The tour was great with some interesting background about the brewery that makes me enjoy & appreciate the beer even more. I liked that along the tour you received information about specific brewing techniques, and then were given a snifter to try the beer now that you know how it is made. One thing I particularly liked about the brewery was their interest in quality control. Having constant analysis of each batch followed by a round of taste tests to ensure that each batch meets the standards they strive to achieve. It demonstrates a passion for that craft that I love to see from various brewers. Absolutely worth an hour trip to see and learn about the facility, and provides a great alternative to all of the wineries located in the area.

Now this was the highlight of my vacation.. So we booked a tour of the brewery which was amazing. Got so sample some beer which is always a plus. Got some epic gear and then had dinner at the taproom which is their restaurant and the food was amazing beer was cold and the service was great

This was the first brewery I've been to at which every single beer was good if not spectacular. There always seems to be at least one beer here or there, if not many, that just don't do it for me---even at my favorite breweries. But FW really is on to something. I came in with my cousins and wife, one who enjoys beer but is not a fiend like me, the other who was looking to get wasted, and my wife who was most likely hoping to see cider on the menu. I can't say they were as impressed as I was, but they all found several beers to enjoy. And yeah, we tried every beer they had. Of course, I threw down a two ouncer of the Sucaba and the Parabola first, squeezing them in before I took a guided tour. Both beers are highly sought among beer geeks and have high ratings on BA, so I couldn't contain myself. I was highly impressed by the smoothness and balance, even if the alcohol content in both was more apparent than I would've expected. I am chalking that up to the freshness of these beers that most people cellar, so I no complaints. After the tour, which showed their blind tasting area, brewing components, and the kegging and canning process, I returned to the room ready to run through their menu. Thankfully, the small pour option (2 or 4 ounces, I forget) allowed our crew to find what we loved. I was unfortunately pressured to drink up quickly so I didn't take notes or really get the chance to savor and assess each beer the way I'd like to, but I can say with assurance that I could regularly drink FW's DBA, their Union Jack, the Wookey Jack, the Double Jack, the Unfiltered DBA (better than the regular!), the Double DBA, the Parabola and the Sucaba. I'd be in here everyday if I lived in the area. But the real treat was the Parabajava, the breweries coffee-laden version of the Parabola. Not only was this a great beer, but also a treat for being available only at the taproom. Finally, you can pick up some of their brews, as well as snifters and mini-snifters and other swag in the taproom, much of this stuff being a real catch. I had to splurge on some bottles to take home to New Mexico and spent above $60 for three bottles. Well worth it though.

Firestone is a must visit when visiting the Central Coast. The beer is scrumptious! I've spent most my time in the tasting room & usually come home with a sweet T-shirt. Last time in the tasting room, we couldn't get a beer because it was so crowded & the bartenders ignored us. (Labor Day weekend-to be expected, I guess..?) So we went to the Firestone restaurant across the street & luckily found a table. We weren't served promptly- they were busy too; but we eventually got delicious beer. I had fish and chips in their restaurant, which were excellent as was the service. Their beers I was already familiar with, which is why I drove 200 miles out of my way to visit the tap room on the way to L.A. I think it is the best craft brewery in the U.S., and I say this after visiting many very fine competitors in San Diego County, as well as being familiar with all the great ones in Northern California and Chicago. To be outstanding in both IPA's/DIPA's as well as Belgian style lambics and barrel-aged stouts is remarkable.

Came here last Friday just after noon. There were 8 in our party. The guys had a beer it was fine. Then we all ordered, 4 out of 8 of our plates were wrong. They actually took my daughters plate TWICE to fix it and it was still wrong! Without going into too much detail sufficed to say the waitress was less than helpful she really just seemed annoyed. at one point when we asked why our food didn't come like the menu listed it, she says "oh our menu changed, they just aren't printed yet" WHAT!? It was bad enough things were wrong but then to be annoyed at us and try to explain why it's okay??? Only saving grace is that there was a manager that noticed we had trouble and came over apologized and credited part of our bill...Not planning on heading back there.

The food was not the best. We ordered a burger rare, and shrimp appetizer. The burger was over cooked and the shrimp were cold. That being said the manager credited our entire bill. Beer was very good!

The food was decent. The staff was very nice but overall horrible service. Food was very slow coming out that by the time my entree came I was full and just asked for a box. I ordered a second pint of beer and by the time it came out I realized it was the wrong beer. I drank it because I knew if I asked for it to be replaced I could wait another hour or so. I would not recommend this restaurant to friends. You can get semi decent food with better service someplace else.

We arrived after lunch and before dinner so all they were serving were apps and pizzas. Kind of dumb I think based on the crowd size and tourist location!! Apps were standard food service. Pizza was excellent. Service was good as well. Overall experience was ok.....Nothing special. Suggestion: serve your beer. ..which we like....In a frozen glass and you'll get much better ratings just for that little adder.

Great service. Great atmosphere. Food is good. I got the fish and chips. The batter for the fish is homemade nice and soft. The prices on the food and beer is decent also. I recommend this place while you're in Paso Robles!

I didn't dine in here but wished we did. Although a group of us came here to just order beers and devour their appetizers at the bar, this place already deserved 4 stars. The craftsmanship of the building is quite impressive, I have not seen anything as interesting as this in the bay. Its like a huge warehouse decked out with moving beer bottles, blue lights, silver ... I had the oatmeal stout and it was amazing. The entire group was raving about the ahi tuna we had. I didn't get to try but from the crazy reviews I've heard, its superb and worth a try. We also ordered the platter with 3 types of fries. I loved their beer battered garlic fries, tasted so good. It's not soggy, fried and crunchy, and had a kick of garlic. So I'll be coming back here next time I'm in SLO. We will attempt to dine in here and try as much of their beers as possible!

I do brewery tours all over the country. What a wonderful and unusual experience the brewery tour at firestone walker. The guide was informed, and very personable. This tour allows visitors to see the bottling line, keg line and stand on the brew deck of the mash tun while a brew is underway. The pub food was excellent and the atmosphere interesting as some of the pub decor is from salvaged brewing equipment. Loved the bottles above the bar, moving on the old bottling conveyer belts.

Beautiful beers! Amazing food! Personal service! Victor treated us like we were locals who came in daily. I'm a picky guy and Victor just ensured that we had a wonderful meal and truly enjoyed our beer choices. We filled a few growlers and can't wait to come back.

We saw this place off the freeway on our way to SLO and decided to stop in. The food was OK but we came more for the beers. You can do tastings in the restaurant and in the Visitor's Center. We shared a tasting of four beers - Pale 31, DBA, Wookey Jack, and the Velvet Merlin (nitro). DBA was our favorite which probably shouldn't be much of a surprise since it's one of their most popular beers. We ended up buying a 6-pack to take home. We also liked the DBA mustard and bought a bottle of that as well. This place gets very busy and parking can be hard to find. We were lucky and came in before the lunch rush on a Sunday.

This is my favorite brewery. The Easy Jack and Union Jack IPAs are my personal favorites. I highly recommend stopping by for some tastings if you are in the central coast area.

Been frequenting Firestone ever since meeting the wife a few years ago, as the now mother-in-law, is a 15 minute bike ride away. Great taproom and availability of bottles, which makes me happy, seeing that I am a big fan of many of their beers. Unfortunately, their food is no where close to being on par with the quality of their beers. Asides from the fries, everything I've tried had been pretty disappointing, even when considering it's simple bar food. Regardless, you should be here for the beer, so make sure you stop by for one or five, and take home a double DBA.

My husband I came here for beer tasting and lunch. The beer tasting was fantastic. I fairly nice variety to choose from. We then ate lunch at their location across the street. I ordered fish tacos and my husband ordered skirt steak. I must say, the food was disgusting. I have never sent my food back, but I couldn't eat stomach it. The reason I am giving them 4 stars is because of the service. I told the waitress that I wasn't going to eat the rest... The manager comped our beer and my meal. I thought that was over the top in service. I wouldn't eat here again, but I would stop for a beer.

::McKenna the racist bartender:: I ment to speak to a manager about the rude service I had received but never got around to it. Pretty sure I will not be back. So I had decided to stop by the brewery with my girlfriend on a warm Feb. Weekend. We came in around the afternoon and it looked like there was a group getting ready to do a tour of the facility. My lady and I approached a busy bar and looked over the menu. After deciding on our drinks we patiently waited for the bartender to serve us. This is where our first trip to this brewery went south. The patrons around us had already been served and had not even finished their drinks yet. I tried to ask a question to the bartender whom went by the name McKenna, but the blonde bartender stopped me and insisted on asking the patrons around me of they needed another drink. (Is it because I'm black?!). She asked the patrons to the left of me and to the right if they needed anything else. Keep in mind my lady and I are waiting patiently at the bar for 10+ minutes now. It was actually insulting that she would assist people who were not even done with their drink yet before assisting two customers who were ready to order. (Was she going to top off their pint glasses if they asked? Idk) Not only that but she seemed annoyed when I had questions about the beer. ( I wasn't asking for their secret recipe I just wanted to know which one is preferred by customers most) UGH!! How are you gonna work at a brewery but seem annoyed when customers ask questions? Finally she got to my lady and I and we received two of the best drinks the brewery had to offer. I had the velvet Merklin and my lady had the velvet Merlin. Both beers were amazing but not worth the time or rude attitude we had to endure to get it. we got another drink before leaving & this time we made sure to have a different bartender assist us. A male helped up this time and was actually a big difference. So if your colored be wary of blonde bartenders named McKenna because she loves to make the minorities feel like they are not worthy. But don't get me wrong one of a kind brewing just rude employees.

As a local, I never come here, as the service is slow and the food is mediocre at best... Tonight my sister and brother were in town and really wanted to go and have a beer and burger.. They heard about Firestone and wanted to check it out. The service was slow, as usual, and the burgers were tough and tasteless... Not what you want from a "Kobe" beef patty. My brother was very disappointed. If you are driving through the 101 and want a great meal... Keep driving to Paso and go to any restaurant downtown. If you just want a beer stop in but avoid the restaurant and the over priced food.

Wha-what? Only 2 stars ?? Value - 2 - Pay for a taste? I'm on the wrong end of this arrangement! Food (the beers) 4 - Very good, um, lots of 10%+ ABV and experimental ones. Ambiance - 3 - The vats are stainless. Does the whole place have to be? Service - 2 - They're just too busy. Dog friendly: Nope Wow factor: Didn't feel the love. The whole experience was just OK. On our recent foray to Pismo/SLO, we were thrilled to grab a seat at the tasting counter of the celebrated Firestone Walker Brewing Co. Award winning brews! Limited-release suds available nowhere else! And experts on hand to explain all this stuff to us, lovers and consumers of beer! Since we were a bit short on time, we decided to skip the tour and get right to tasting. Elbowing aside a pair of Cal Poly-ites, we scored the last two seats at the austere, stainless steel tasting bar and scanned the room. T shirt racks, logoed mugs, beer openers, 6 packs and other status symbols of your brewery visit and more stainless steel chairs and tables dominated the room. Maybe things just got off on the wrong foot? After all, this was our first-ever "south" central coast brewery experience. Were we naive to think we'd be greeted and get some beer-speak from our tasting host? Five minutes went by and we still hadn't been acknowledged. Finally, we waved down a young woman who immediately asked for our order. Since the menu indicated 3-oz pours at $1.50-$2, I quickly calculated that tasting 10 of their brews - the equivalent of a pair of pints - could set us back $15-20, which to me seemed excessive by our "norcal" tasting standards of "free." But, other eager tasters were leaping at the chance to throw down coin, so, peer pressure being what it is, we ordered samples and began savoring our tiny pours. After asking a few pointed questions about the different brews, we did manage to engage our server who turned out to be quite knowledgeable! Turns out, Scotch-influenced rye ales are the hottest thing since the MySpace flareout, and Firestone Walker's Wookie Jack turned out to be my favorite. The Scottish malts are kiln dried over peat fires, then the ale is stored in whisky casks. Wookie oozed toasty malt flavors, full IPA hoppiness (IBU 80), a rye bite and a rich, dark color. Other samplings included the Taproom IPA - smooth, not as hoppy as I was expecting even though 4lbs/barrel of hops yields an 80 IBU brew, Double DBA at 12% ABV and Stickee Monkee at 13% ABV. The list is practically endless although there were only two or three that fit my style for drinking. I'm just not that much into experimental, sour tasting brews using wild yeasts, nor anything above 10% ABV. Overall: I guess we need to get used to paying for tastes. The brews are really good but the rest of the experience was mediocre. I'd like more attentive service in a tasting room - staffing up an extra server or two would improve the customer experience dramatically!

Nothing too fancy. There is one stainless steel bar where you pay per 3oz taste - $1.50-$3.00. My party sampled almost all of them and then bought some brews only sold on site to take home with us. Also bought a $.50 pretzel bag and tried with their special mustard sauce. Quite tasty. Servers were nice....and that's a wrap.

I love this place. Although I'm not crazy about their beers, they do have some good pours. I do love most of the items on their food menu (especially the IPA battered fish and chips). The atmosphere is truly great and their service is top notch!

What I expect to be the perfectly ideal brewery visit experience must be completely unrealistic. I want: + plenty of free parking + the taproom to not be too crowded + most of the brewery's complete catalog of beers on tap for fresh imbibing + most of the brewery's complete catalog of beers available to take home in bottles &/or growlers (including stuff not commonly found in stores) + plenty of swag available for purchase + comprehensive & free tours of brewery operations + an awesome brewpub serving great pub grub to go with great beers Ridiculous expectations I know, because I have yet to find it. Or have I? Firestone Walker Brewing Company came damn close to that perfection, real damn close. For a Holidays road trip home to the SF Bay Area from SoCal, I chose Paso Robles as a central stopping point for the girlfriend & I to spend a couple days. Not for the wine, but for the beer. Because I Yelp California beer, baby! Firestone Walker Brewing Company did not disappoint. In fact, I was quite impressed. That aforementioned unrealistic checklist? Yeah, Firestone Walker hit every 1 of those bullet points. The only thing that wasn't quite as ideal as the rest was their brewpub across the street from the brewery itself. A couple miscues kept that from being totally awesome, though it was still a solid brewpub experience. Details to follow in my review of Firestone Walker Taproom Restaurant... Firestone Walker Brewing Company is the closest I've come yet to absolute beer-vana. For me, the best reason to come to Paso Robles isn't for the wine, but for the beer. & the beer is pretty damn good here.

If you're making that drive between SF and LA, you have to stop in Paso Robles and check out Firestone. A great tasting bar with a variety of sizes and options for you to try out. You can walk out with 6 packs, bottles, growlers and growlettes. I learned to my consternation, then delight, that growlers should be only kept for 5 - 7 days. Challenge accepted.

MacKenna knows her stuff! She was not only our guide for the brewery tour, but she was also our server in the tasting room. She had lots of great information to share on the brewing process and the Firestone Walker beers. We sampled all the beers and enjoyed each and every one of them. It is so nice to have such variety when tasting. I would buy any one of their beers without having tasted them because their quality standards are that high!

Ssssssucabbbba! Most amazing brews and this was the top barley wine of 35 we tasted BLINDLY at Toronado's barley wine fest. Tap Room IPA in a growler was a great campsite brew. Beautiful floral nose, 6.7% and no strong after bite. Things that would get it 5 stars: -Sucaba price is $1 an ounce. We offered $60 for a 64 oz growler. Response: No way. Us: ok, how about the full $64. Response: Not a chance. One more star for request compliance (jk-we know it's liquid gold). -More bar staff on duty for Labor Day weekend. I'm sure it would be fine for any other time. It rocks.

Beer tastings as a lunch break between Nor Cal and So Cal might not sound like a great idea but it is. Especially when you have a pregnant designated driver. And that's exactly what we did driving back from Monterey to LA. We intended on eating and beer tasting at the nearby Taproom Restaurant but we found out that the brewery has more beers to taste than the Taproom. Since beer was the priority, we settled in at the brewery instead. I love their method for tastings. Each pour is about $2-$3 each and comes in adorable Firestone branded mini goblets. The pours are pretty generous, easily 3 glugs. My friend and I shared every. single. beer. they. had. available. for tasting. If you must know, it was about 20 of them, but we shared. What's great about partaking in their tasting is that you can try a great variety from ales to stouts to pilsners and figure out what you really like. There were way too many to name and the selection rotates frequently anyway but I was a big fan of their Hefeweisen and their pale ales. I took home a growler of the Hefe (my first!) and my friends took home bottles and six packs of their favorites. We even got a taster's discount off our purchase, which was really awesome. Each item was $2 off so for some bottles of beer, it was a huge discount. The employees here are all really helpful and friendly, with a clear love of beer. Good company if you ask me. If you time your visit properly, you can even take a tour of the brewery.

List of grievances: 1. There's more space in this brewery dedicated to apparel than paying customers. 2. Figure this out - the Taproom is the name of the restaurant. 3. They serve you bar style - no line, no first come first serve. They serve whoever can smash closest to the bar. It felt like I was fighting for a beer. 4. The guy serving me has had more to drink than me. 5. The guy serving me gave me my tasters, told me he had served me two different things I hadn't order, asked me, "what did you order"?, smelled my beer, then told me he served me what I ordered. 6. The girl serving me charged me $6 for 4 tasters and 2 growler fills. Normally a good thing, but I'm a happily paying customer. 7. The chair backs in the back of the bar were stone, cold and not comforting. 8. The menu is color coded, but there's no legend. I wonder how many times a day they get asked what the colors mean. 9. The bartenders had some fancy certifications but couldn't remember which unlabeled taps served which beer. 10. Medals on the wall. I don't need to be told how great you are. I'll decide for myself. Your product should speak for itself. Plus side: pretty good beer.

FW has expanded to the point now that they're quite well-known throughout the country. However, what I particularly like about them is that they seem to focus on the region first and the country second. There are some CA breweries that go wherever the money is and are often difficult to find on tap even locally, but Firestone Walker is on tap at any place with a decent selection in my relatively beer-scarce region. I've only had one visit to the taproom, so I won't comment too much on service, selection and beers, since it's going to change day-to-day. If you've had their beers, then you know that they're all pretty solid. The Double Barrel is a drinkable yet full-bodied ale that's palatable on both the malt and the hops sides. Always a good stand-by, at the least. Visiting the tap room gives you access to quite a few of the beers that they do not distribute. They're sort of experimental batches. Some seem to be barrel-aged, some seem to be just odd ingredients. I tried all that were available, and thought really highly of all of them. Why two stars off then? First: they don't fill other growlers. In CA, you can fill other growlers as long as you put your own sticker on the growler. It's stupid, but it works, and many other breweries in the state fill the growlers of their counterparts. This annoys me generally, but annoyed me much more because I was there to fill a growler for a friend who had purchased the glass for me as a birthday present, but was unable to do so. Second: they don't fill growlers of their specialty beers. That means that everything they have on tap that's available for growler fill, you can also buy on bottle. Not only can you buy it on bottle, but you can buy it on bottle right behind you, in the cooler. And, as is usually the case, it's cheaper on bottle. Maybe they're worried about a rush on the beers when they come out. No idea. I will say this about the service, just in looking at other reviews: the bartenders are busy as this is a very popular brand, so just don't expect to be able to go in there and feel like a big shot. These poor people are there to pour beer, not to listen to your shit. If you want a real bartender, there are plenty of places in Paso Robles where you can have a more traditional bar experience. The restaurant next door would even be better. If you just want to try well-crafted and interesting beer, then this is a good spot. Also be aware that they do not sell pints here. If you want a pint, you have to go next door, which I believe has a different tap selection (read: fewer beers). What's nice though is that they're easy on/off the 101 and it's a nice space. I would stop again, if in the area.

Awesome brewery. Had a sour on tap this time and it was delicious! Also had the Steak salad and it was fantastic. Meat was perfectly cooked, fried onion straws added nice crunch, blue cheese is well... always delicious with steak. Waitress was very attentive and kept our beverages full. Wonderful experience, I wish you guys were closer to where I live!

As far as beers go, Firestone is one of my favorite breweries. All of their beers are good, even the ones that aren't my favorites in their lineup are still better than a lot of other beers. This is the second time I had come here, and this time I brought my family along to sample some beers with my girlfriend and I. As always the staff inside the tasting room was friendly and accommodating, and even though it was busy they found time to chat with my girlfriend and I about their beers, and lament with us that many of them were not available for purchase anywhere else. The price to taste the beers is reasonable if you ask me, you can sample every beer they have for right around 30 bucks. If you have even the slightest interest in beer, I say you should definitely give it a try and sample some beers that you probably are never going to be able to buy anywhere else. Sadly I have yet to go on a brewery tour, but the people coming off the tours seemed to be enjoying them. Stopping here had not been part of our original plan for the day so just about everyone was wearing open toed shoes, but since this is a place that has to stay sanitary, not to mention OSHA rules, open toed shoes are not allowed on the tours. So if you want to go on a tour be aware, pack a pair to wear on the tour, or ditch the flip flips all together!

Wish I could review the beer in the tasting room, but their staff made it not possible. Three guys behind the bar and not one acknowledged my presence. My wife and I waited for 10 minutes and left in frustration. They were busy washing growlers and tending to the other patrons. Zero customer service. What happened to customer is king? My family and I were on vacation up here for a family reunion. 6 of us got together at this brewing company to try some beers and have a good lunch. Right when I walked inside, I was excited. The ambiance of the place is awesome, the lighting makes you feel welcomed, it's a good atmosphere for a bite and beer. I got the cobb salad, which was organic lettuce leaves and everything else that comes on a cobb salad. It was yummy! My parents got the regular cheeseburger, which was also delicious. As far as beers, I tried the 31 Pale Ale, and a 805 Blonde Ale - both were awesome, but we picked up a six pack of the 31 Pale Ale for the road. Our server was awesome and very accommodating - always making sure we were happy with our food and drinks.

Tour + tasting = education and buzz After the day before being spent wine tasting, this was hub's turn. Tastings are 1.50-3$ per 3 oz taste. No complaints. And the cutest snifter glasses ever! But I digress. The servers were knowledgeable and fun. Book a tour. The staff is great and the brewery is clean, beautiful, and interesting. And go across the street for food, great yums at the tap house.

Taproom is even better and the staff is ridiculously attentive and friendly. They even squeezed us onto the tour last minute and the guide (Shannon) was happy to answer all my boyfriends questions. Though we had decent food and service, we travel here regularly for the beer. Today we were informed that Firestone policy does not allow growler fills for our Hydro Flask - a growler that specifically fits California's "growler laws." It is not reasonable to travel with a glass growler for every brewery we plan to patronize on this trip. We have gone out of our way to buy Firestone beer and in fact own one of their growlers, but will no longer visit due to their unfriendly policy. As an aside, we are in no way affiliated with Hydro Flask and we are the proud owners of a more than a dozen growlers from breweries nationwide.

Great food at the restaurant! The man had the pulled pork and it was to die for! I had the maple bacon grilled cheese which was awesome! The fries that came with them weren't anything to brag about, but the food and service saved it. As for the beer the 805 and the Solace were the man's fave, and after a visit to the brewery across the street we bought a growler for pretty cheap, as well as some merchandise with the $2 token from the restaurant. Good food, good beer, a decent wine list for the non-beer drinkers, and a great shop across the street. Definitely a must visit on a Paso Robles weekend!

I'm not a big fan of firestone. The beer is classified as ok. It's not bold enough and the flavor and finish is quite flat. Although I thought their wild red ale was interesting, I do not recommend this place .

Such an awesome brewery!!! I love this place!!! Tasting room and across st awesome bar and food!!! The bartender was awesome and she was from Morro Bay! Her husband gets his hair cut at Mike's Barber Shop which i always like to hear!!! Would recommend this place without hesitation to any beer lovers!! Right off the 101 at hwy 46 exit makes it a perfect stop!!! Clean, friendly great spot!!!

I've wanted to go here for years! And, w those are for store 45 the course is a fortified I'll get it for account for all that e went here on a Sunday, busy night, given, but I wish I hadn't. Not enough people working, too many customers. No service. I like most Firestone beer. Union Jack! But I won't go back. We arrives around 4. And we're told we had 30 min to wait. We waited but like ur average American, which I try not to be, but am sometimes, we decided to get beers at the bar and have a seat. Told the receptionist/servers we (a large group was siting down at a bar table just outside. She said that no problem we will find you when your time come up. 30 more minutes go by and we get beer sample and some appitiers. and those come super fast. Then we go to the bar (an hour later) to order some more food. I waited at the bar getting servers and bar tenders attention for 45 min. Was told 4 different times I would be next and would be helped soon. This is where I got upset and tried to get help. (I tried to get people's attention at 10, 20, 30, and 40 min Ordered $80 worth of food. Got the food. Trio of fries was good, the fried own tons were good. The food was typical upscale status. The chefs did great (can you just tip them). Selection was good. But I didn't enjoy myself. Gent might think about staffing more people but what are you gonna do, oh yeah, probably not go back.

We were here a year ago and had a wonderful experience and purchased a growler. This evening we went there with a wonderful group of folks to watch playoff basketball and what an awful experience. I got engaged today and we were celebrating with a group of people and I had one beer on the patio when the abrasive manager approached us and needless to say we were caught off guard and he mentioned we needed to leave. Stopped here for lunch on a whim........... The food was delicious, and the beer fabulous! (We will try to find 805 in our area!) This being a Saturday, the tours of the brewery were booked solid, but only had to wait 10 min for a table. Has indoor and out door seating. I would definately come back!

We were a little bummed that the last tour of the day was a VIP Tour for industry professionals :( we rushed from the wineries to make it and I even had to buy some closed-toed shoes at Kohl's. Luckily, the tasting room stays open for tastings and glasses until 5pm. We got to taste several different styles of beer. The tastings were very reasonable and the beers were interesting and tasty! We had the Pale 31 (great!), the Wookey Jack (black rye IPA, very tasty), Double DBA (similar to DBA, but double strength, a little syrupy for me), PNC (the guy said today was the only time we'd be able to try it, very rare!) They also have great merchandise in the tasting room, we walked away with a t-shirt, mustard, two pint glasses and a beer BBQ apron!! MY GO-TO DISH: Can't go wrong with tasting a few of your favorite Firestone beers and trying a few new ones you can only get at the brewery!

The tour was great, and the beers are good but the staff make you feel very un-welcomed. The staff ignored us standing at the bar until we had to ask for service and when they did come over they had an attitude as if we were inconveniencing them. If you would like to enjoy the beer at firestone get a six pack at the store but avoid the brewing room. They are seriously rude.

Don't miss this incredible gem along the 101. From tasting the beer, I couldn't tell if Firestone Walker was the real deal. They had something unique, but I couldn't tell if it was the product of an incredible culture dedicated to excellence and innovation in brewing, so I decided to investigate as I passed through. I stopped with a friend for lunch, and got my answer loud and clear. The complexity and the quality of their wide range of styles proved to me that their Double Barrel Ale was anything but a fluke. Their wheat ale, Saison, IPA, Velvet Merlin, Parabola, and Stickee Monkee were all impressive in their own right. We were never short, but we're gonna have to make room for one more great California brewery.

One of the best known names in California for craft beer. This tap room has plenty of seating and carries some of their best brews on draft. Their state of the art facility allows is equipped with plenty of TV's for sports fans without being annoying. Just about everything on the menu is outstanding, but I am slightly partial towards their hamburger. The bartenders are super friendly and always willing to provide you with suggestions depending on your taste. They also have a great patio set up to enjoy sunny weather. Great place to bring a group of friends and hang out. It is very family oriented too!

Excellent craft beers, best we've had in a while (and possibly ever). Makes our local Pyramid brewery and Trumer Pils seem somewhat mediocre. Started by the same guys who did the tire company. No relation to the Firestone Grill in SLO surprisingly. $1.50 to $2. for 2 oz tastes. All beers were really well balanced and smooth; nothing astringent. We really enjoyed the double IPAs; the oatmeal stout (Velvet Merlin) tasted a bit strange and the red was too hoppy for me. Favorite was the wookey jack. Definitely would come back to try some more and perhaps go on the free 30 min tour they have on weekends!

Don't come here if you want wine. Great beer place, but crappy place in wine country to get a glass of wine. I wanted to try a small taste of the wine before I ordered a whole glass, I was told they don't give tastes of their wine and that the managers measure wine bottles?!!!! We are in wine country! You are a bar! You don't give tastes of the wine? I also thought the food was over priced.h husband wanted to try the beer, he drank a quick one and we left. We would have stayed for drinks and food if the staff had been more hospitable.

Let me start by saying I have been a long time Firestone Brewery fan. Every chance I get, I get on my Harley Davidson, and I make the 3 hour trip to enjoy some delicious brew with my lovely wife. However, the tap room has recently made some changes that I was very disappointed with. Now they only serve beer on 3 oz samples. If you want full size pints, you have to go the restaurant across the way. It's just not the same experience, as you have to deal with the restaurant crowd. I hope the management team takes a serious look at how they are tending to their long time costumers, because otherwise they will loose a lot of business to other breweries, such was Barrelhouse who is down the road. So I'm challenging Firestone to become the great brewery I know and love.

I was really excited to visit Firestone Brewery but quickly became very disappointed with the service. I don't believe we had one friendly hostess or server. Our main server took our order, had somebody bring our food and never checked back. We had to actually ask her for our check after we had been done eating for at least 15 minutes. We had ran out of drinks and water before we finished our meal but that wasn't a concern of our waitress. I can't say we will ever come back and I wouldn't recommend it. The beer was good but the food was marginal. All and all, disappointing.

This place is my FAVORITE micro brewery around! To start off, every Friday-Saturday-Sunday they give a fantastic tour around the brewery. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and are able to tell you all the details from the process down to the materials they use. I love walking around the facility seeing the entire process in full swing. They have a fantastic bottling machine that is a blast to watch. After you take the tour it is fun to sit down and try the different beers that Firestone makes. My ultimate favorite is the Unfiltered Double Barrel Ale. It is fermented in actual wooden double barrels which give it an amazing taste. Also their Heffaweisen is fantastic! One of the new additions to the Firestone Walker facilities is the Taproom, which is their wonderful restaurant. If you are traveling on Hwy 101 make sure to stop off and give it try!

I really like the beer, but I wish they had the same quality of food they had a year ago! Every time we order the same item, it come out completely different. This last time we ordered a Margherita pizza and it came out as a cheese pizza with tomatoes. When I asked our server where the mozzarella was she said, "that pizza doesn't come with mozzarella". When I showed her the menu where it stated it did, she said "well, on the new menu, it doesn't". Um Hello?! Well, what about the missing basil? Nevermind. No one is at the helm in this kitchen. Only go for the beer.

Being a non-wine drinker in NorCal is a little like being a leper so whenever I can take the opportunity to drink in the suds and learn a little something about the craft too, I'm all in. If you're doing a wine tasting trip to Paso Robles or just rolling down 101, this brewery tour provides an excellent excursion for an hour or so. Tours are FREE, given every half hour 10:30am-3:30p Fri-Sun. No reservation needed but seems like they fill up quickly so you may want to show up on the early side and be prepared to wait a bit....all the more time to sample! And as if beer making wasn't entertaining enough, our guide was quite jovial & knowledgable so you'll never get antsy in anticipation of what awaits you at the end. Having done a few of these tours over the years around the country, I was a bit surprised they charge for tastings at the end but at $1.50-$3 a pop, your wallet will survive. As the movie says, exit through the gift shop where you'll be able to pick up some branded shirts, hoodies, glasses and homemade mustard. PROST!

On a beer tour with some friends, my first stop was Firestone. It's going to be hard to top this for the rest of the day. Weston led the behind-the-scenes tour which was informative and laid back, and it was cool to see that the employees have recommended sensory analysis sessions to taste the beer. We had some great stuff in the tasting room after (Parabola, Stickee Monkee, and a 3 Floyd's collaboration) and picked up some rare bottles to go! A fantastic experience overall.

I've been here three times now. The first time was delicious and almost a 5 star experience. The second time around, I can't say for sure whether or not it was good, because it was at the tail end of a day of intense wine tasting. I remember bacon, I think. Mac n Cheese. Anyway. This time around, the food was a 3, but because I left without my card and without even signing the bill, I have to bump it up to 4 for penance. Seriously, who wants to be THAT person... at noon no less! The ambiance is great, restaurant nice and dark and well decorated, and service is always with a smile. Today my burger was pretty not good. I think it's something Gordon Ramsey would have sent back saying, "This is like rubber!". I noted the waitress didn't ask me how I wanted the burger cooked, but I sure didn't expect it to come medium well. In spots. In some places it was well. And the bacon was thick cut and tasty but under-cooked and kinda gross. That's what I get for breaking my vegan streak by trying to go all the way. But hey! The house vinaigrette is amazing, and my boyfriend devoured his fish tacos and made little "mmm" sounds. There are nothing but great things to say about the beer. I am not a beer fan, but the Pilsner I had was amazing. There was a guy on the brewery tour that was almost jumping out of his pants he was so excited to be there. And it smells nice.

I thought they would have had a better beer selection actually. It was almost everything you can get at BevMo. When we were seated, we waited about 15 minutes before our server came by because there was a "mixup". The food was decent. We had the porkchop and the salad. A little better that we expected for food.

I went to Firestone today to celebrate Fathers Day with my family. The ambiance itself is pleasant, if a bit industrial. The beer itself is fantastic, their "special beer" today was "Parabola" a Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout, which at 13% ABV was a real joy to drink with hints of toasted marshmallow, chocolate and coffee to go along with a mild hoppy aftertaste. The other beer I tried was their unfiltered "Double Barrel Ale" which was a much more flavorful, 100% oaked version of their flagship beer. Fresh Union Jack on tap is also a delight. They also gave me a glass for buying a pint for my father (their pints are Imperial, [meaning 20 oz.] so a man has to be careful to not imbibe to much...). The only thing holding this taproom from five stars is the slow service. It took about 5 minutes to receive the two Parabolas I ordered, after a considerable wait to attract the bartenders attention. Regardless, I'll certainly be going back because of the beer. There is no kitchen, which is a shame.

Service was horrible. The restaurant was about a third full, and they said they were really busy. It took twenty minutes for someone to even acknowledge us after being seated. Waited for our food for another 40 minutes. Another server delivered our food and gave us make attitude when we couldn't tell her who ordered an 805 salad when someone ordered a side salad. Once the food got there the grilled chicken sandwich had no flavor and was on stale bread. An overall bad experience with the service and food for the price.

We have been to Firestone a few times in the past but it had been awhile. When we visited last week, we were blown away by the remodel! The Tap Room is beautifully done with a cool bar and I like how the beer bottles are on an assembly line around the room. I don't drink beer but my boyfriend enjoyed the selections and tastings. The only thing lacking is their bar menu is very small, not much to choose from.

Horrible service! Bartenders were rude and seemingly have some sort of grudge against college students. If you are in your 20's I would not recommend going here. Took the 30min brewery tour. Be sure to call ahead about an hour to put your name down on the tour since it fills up pretty quickly and is limited to 10-12 people. The tour was very informative, and you can get up close to all their equipment. Its great for the average to die-hard beer aficionado. The tasting room can get a little cramped and ordering drinks can take forever. I wish they had a separate register to purchase apparel. Instead of waiting in line, we headed across to the restaurant bar and grabbed a sampler of the beers there. They had all the same beers on tap.

Firestone is a central coast classic. A well loved beer with lots of character. The brewery is well worth the visit because the non-mainstream beers are the tastiest. Their Wooky Jack rocks as well as a refreshingly dry and crisp taproom IPA - which is way better than their syrupy store distributed IPA. Food here was really tasty. Loved the veggie pizza. Fun, hip dining experience! The service is amazing - very friendly and knowledgeable. They genuinely like working here, and you can tell. The place was packed on both of our visits, but the wait was not long, and the service was the right pace. On our last visit, I had the crabcake as an appetizer, perhaps one of the most delectable I've had, full of lump crab meat, perfectly blended seasonings, and a crisp crust. My husband had the ahi tostada for an appetizer, and the tuna was perfectly seared, great flavor. I had the simple grilled salmon, which was simple, yet cooked just right, with a hint of lemon and olive oil, served with a nicely sauteed spinach base and garlic chips. My husband had the special pizza and declared it one of his favorites, which is a tall order because he's a pizza aficionado. I was too full for dessert, but he ordered for us anyway - chocolate bread pudding, made with Velvet Merkin (or was it Merlin?) - and it was so incredible I nearly wept. I don't order dessert very often, but this one was truly impressive. I also forgot to mention the beer! Firestone-Walker beers are legendary. I don't drink a lot of beer, but I'm always sure to have a the 805 or one of their fine stouts (Velvet Merkin and Merlin are amazing). You can also do a sampler, which I highly recommend for the full experience.

Taproom Breweries have increasingly higher expectations from me in that they must deliver an experience that is unique to the brewery versus their distributed product -- especially in the land of abundance (Bay Area) where the world's best beer (Firestone included) is readily available. So, with the whimsical stop here without any research I was thinking about the possibility that they have their standard selection of beers to go along with the inherently exquisite experience of just being in Paso Robles at Firestone for beer & tours. Instead, like the very reason I go to restaurants to have a unique product melee of mouthfuls (see: Sam's Burgers or Romolo cocktails), I want that very maelstrom -- or wait male*strom -- in my face of Not-Anywhere-Else-Beer. And I got it. Four drafts on tap that aren't anywhere else -- Taproom IPA, Brown, Hefe & Unfiltered Oak Fermented Pale Ale. First the flight, then a pint of the Unfiltered with its vanilla-oak & hop characters we can affectionately name Larry & Balki as they were Perfect Strangers. Food & Service, I won't hold it against you I promise Tangent: I'm not sure why they chose to only serve pizza & salad while we were there, but they were -- then we spotted a curious platter of fries on another table -- and then they allowed us to do the same. The food & service was all too confusing so I'd really just pony up to the bar -- and maybe attempt fries at some point. Our server had noticeably checked out of working (Friday post-thanksgiving), which is fine... it's just funny & I'm not tipping much at all. She was walking out of the taproom with her purse so I had to flag her down to close the deal with the check. It didn't stop us from marveling at the ale or laughing at the fact they had a Steak & Cheddar Pizza. Steak. Cheddar. Pizza. Together. Bizarre but true & I suppose decent? I'm not sure. I am sure that this is perfect beer and offering a unique experience as a brewery. Taproom tiny snifters of the flight order are entirely adorable & entirely likely to be put in a purse.

Very happy with our dinner here this evening. Although our attentive server, Michelle, had only been working here for two weeks, she was able to answer most of our questions about menu and wine/beer offerings...and willing to ask other employees for their recommendations. I had a boneless ribeye special (very good) that was supposed to be served with mashed potatoes. For a couple of extra dollars I was able to make a substitution -- ordering their macaroni and cheese instead of the potatoes -- and it turned out to be a great decision. The very creamy macaroni and cheese is not to be missed here -- Cavatappi pasta with cheddar, mozzarella & bacon and truly the best "mac & cheese" I've ever had! My husband ordered the Panko-crusted seared Ahi with wasabi mashed potatoes and was very pleased with his meal as well. I would definitely visit this restaurant again if we find ourselves in the Paso Robles area in future travels.

With so many kick-ass wineries on the central coast, how do you choose? You don't, Sally. You go to a brewery, and this is one of the best in California. FWP has two advantages: 1) Location: It isn't in some crappy wrong-side-of-the-tracks part of LA or SF, nor is it the middle of nowhere like Eureka or Humboldt or Petafuckingluma. It's out of the way if you're coming from the big city. But if you are, it's an easy and mandatory stop after Hearst Castle or camping at Nacimiento; 2) The beer: Unlike almost every other brewery, there wasn't just one standout in the tasting room, with everything else seeming almost like an afterthought. The DBA and the Union Jack are like Mardi Gras in your mouth, but all the other beers were just as drinkable. So next time your ladyfriend drags you to Cambria or Paso to check out some bad hippie art festival, stop in and find your balls again at Firestone.

Love, Love, Love their beer! The parabola was my all-time favorite (apart from Stone Imperial stout), the Scuba -- another favorite barley wine -- is thick, viscous, malty, dark, and succulent deliciousness. These are only for dark beer lovers though, I'm sure many people find them on the sweet side. The DBA is always my back-up beer. Whenever I'm at a restaurant that doesn't have a great beer list, I always order the DBA; you can't go wrong. The Double Jack is awesome, too: it has a perfect balance of hoppy, floral, and citrus. Just enough to whet your palate and appetite but not too overbearing, like some Double IPA's. I'm feel very fortunate to have the new & improved, Firestone Tasting Room in my back yard where I can go and taste as much as I want.

I have been trying to figure out what place I should write my first yelp review about after being somebody who's read yelp for years, and after enjoying my experience yesterday (as usual), it's only appropriate that I write about quite possibly my favorite restaurant in the world. First of all, they bring you the beer list. As somebody who always enjoys a double barrel ale or a Pale 31, you get the whole list - library ales, special ales, and the ales that you can only get in the restaurant. And - there are some good drinks to be had there. Also nice knowing they're literally made across the street. Then the food. I have literally had one dish at this restaurant - the Taproom Burger. Best burger I've ever enjoyed. I literally finish it and start obsessing about when I will get my next taste of the amazing Kobe beef, the fries with the special sauce, and of course the beer. I will be back, if I lived in Paso or Buellton, it would be a regular occurrence, but since I don't, I have to settle for a few times a year. Such is life.

Nice place to take a break from all the wine tasting. We arrived here on a Thursday morning just as they opened. Nothing like starting your day with some beer right? We actually just shared a tasting flight, which according to the server, varies in price depending on the beer you choose to taste. The flights allow for 4 beer choices. We went with the blonde, a couple of IPAs and the Double Barrel Ale. All pretty good choices! They were out of the Velvet Merlin when we went though, which sounded intriguing. The tasting room has a bar and a few tables set up, as well as a small gift shop area. All in all, a nice place to go to taste some beer when you've had enough of the wine.

Firestone, why must you be so far away from me!! I love this place, great beer, good service and nice atmosphere! Firestone hef is the best hef in the world! So what you do, you plan a trip off the 101 freeway, you stop at all your typical site seeing places then you finally reach Paso Robles and you stay here and enjoy the elixir of heaven! BEER! I couldn't tell you which one is the best they are all yummy! I have my own favorite brewery here in so cal but when on the other side of cali firestone is my delight!

Fun place to come with a group. It has a "brewery" feel. Little pricey ($18 hamburger), but food is good. Salmon was really well cooked. Beer, of course, was excellent. I recommend the tastings so you can try several different ones. Waitress & bus boy were very friendly. I think the hostess was having a bad day, but she wasn't friendly at all.

My wife and I visited the Tap Room this weekend. My expectations weren't all that high. I'm a beer afficianado and we hit every brewery we can while on the road. I wanted to try some of the special reserves that they had, in particular the velvet merlin aged in whiskey barrels. When we got there, the parking lot was full. That's no surprise, it's a tiny lot. There's plenty of street parking, though, and I think that was the intention. The place was packed when we got in. The girl at the counter asked if we had reservations. Since we didn't, we put down our name and phone #. A few minutes later I had to change the number (my phone was dead) and they gladly let me change it. I could tell they were slammed, but thes staff was very friendly. We got some beers at the bar and went out the patio. We waited quite a while, which was to be expected, and finally a server came out and told us that the kitchen was far too backed up and that they could not seat us. However, the bar serves food and we could sit in there. No problem by us. We went into the bar and within seconds they brought us more beer and menus. We put in our order and had the salad almost immediately and the food followed up in a very timely fashion. The pork chops were fantastic. Perfectly cooked and moist through and through. They were brined, which means they are making enough even for the very large crowd. The sirloin steak was good, but not great. I don't usually expect a great steak unless it's a steak-house anyway. We also tasted the Wookie IPA, which was almost a triple-IPA with really strong hops. Just the way we like it. The reserve porter was delicious; not bitter at all and very smooth. The beer at FW is comparable to the best breweries in northern California and southern Oregon. My impression of the building is that they put some serious money into it. There's nothing low-rate in any of the construction or the materials in the fixtures. Overall, the service was great, the building was great and the beer was much better than I expected. I rarely give five stars, but they deserve it.

Going up to the Central California wine country? Forget wine, go beer tasting! What's great about Firestone's tasting room is wide variety of their beers they have available, including some of their limited releases. I came the day the limited Double-DBA was released, so I was able to try it before taking a bottle home. They also had their XV anniversary beer on tap, which you can't buy anymore. Both of those are great beers by the way. Note that I did not eat in the restaurant, so I can't speak for the food.

A few people (fellow beer geeks) then convinced me that their beers fresh off the tap won't disappoint. I'm grateful that they did. The Double Jack is a fine double IPA. I put it up there on the same level as Pliny Elder and Kern River Citra. It's freakin' awesome fresh off tap. So citrusy and refreshing. *They were also serving Velvet Merlin on nitro tap. Great oatmeal stout. It was so great that they didn't even list it on the tap list. I think they were trying to horde it for the regulars that know it's being tapped. I only found out about it when I saw someone else order it. Kinda shady; I'm going to ask for it every time I visit. I liked it better than the Samuel Smith's. I picked up a sixer to enjoy at home. The Pizza - Surprisingly good. It's like Round Table pizza, but whole another level better. A bit expensive, but gotta pair the beers with something. Cheers!

A really efficiently run tasting room -- the beertenders were quick and knowledgeable. But the best was when a group of obviously drunken bros came in -- really loud and flailing -- and the beertenders politely and quietly booted them. Even when one of the fellows came back in and demanded to know why they were kicked out (it was obvious he didn't know about laws prohibiting bartenders from serving alcohol to obviously drunk people), the counterfolk were still calm and polite -- they kept their class.

These people seriously pissed me off this past weekend. I ordered five cases of beer for my wedding over five months ago and when I called, three weeks ago, to confirm the order I was told they had run out of one the varities I ordered. Why did they not put it aside when it was first ordered? Beats the hell out of me. Fine, so I get something else and they give me a discount. I asked if this would possibly happen again with the new order before the wedding and was told it would not because they would now take the cases and put them aside to be picked up on 9/22. Well, my dad goes to pick it up on 9/22 and is told that they sold part of my order and have to give us yet another kind of beer. WTF?!?! Horrible customer service. We also dined in their restaurant, which was okay food, and received horrible service from our server. She was rude, inattentive and acted like she was doing us a favor by waiting on us. Never again, Firestone, never again!

Firestone Walker's tasting room brings together two of my all time favorite passions: Beer & Pizza! First the good: A-freaking-mazing beers! The lot of them. Sure we all have different preferences when it comes to a style of beer but even the beer styles I don't normally gravitate to are greatly represented. Ever gone to a brewery, ordered a sampler to taste all their beers and soon realize that you wouldn't really like to order a pint of any of them? I have been to more then a couple of breweries here in the SF Bay Area where that was the case. Not Firestone! You could pour me a pint of ANY of their beers and I would be happy! That being said, I will always consider their reserve porter my fave! The service is also top notch. I've been to this establishment a few times and the staff is always attentive and ready to pour me a pint! What more can I ask?! The merchandise is great too! The wife loves her shirts from here and I LOVE my grill apron with built-in bottle holder & bottle opener! So after all this praise, why not 5 stars? The not-so-good: The pizza. The first time I was here it was just after a meal so all I could do is look at other tables and drool over their pizzas. Finally I came here with appetite... The pizza crust was soggy, the pepperoni had sweated all of it's oil onto the near impermeable layer of "cheese" and the whole thing could have used a lot of salt. Though I was a bit disappointed, I was quickly cheered up by a follow-up pint! Perhaps it was an off-day for them, or maybe that's the way the pizza always comes out. Either way I'm ok with it because Paso has tons of good food but only one Firestone and I will continue to come here every chance I get! I could go on but there's a Firestone Porter in my fridge calling my name and I really have to answer now...

If you can sort through the reviews done by employees, I am not really sure where the great service is coming from? Seems that the inexperienced female barmaids need to get with it. We sat at the bar for several minutes while being ignored and while other people (men) got served who came after us. It wasn't me, honestly. I had a good attitude going in and was really looking forward to this place. Maybe the experience is different in the dining area. Anyhow, now apprehensive about going back until the kids at the bar learn a thing or two about good service, regardless of your gender. Anyhow, would recommend waiting until Oct. 2012 before checking this place out, by then they should get their system down.

This is a tough one to write, since the experience was very mixed, and we were left feeling somewhat dissatisfied. Pros: - Amazing beer - Good burger - Delicious mushroom soup Cons: - Server who started off the introductions by badmouthing the bussers - Bland mac and cheese - Condescension from the server The mac and cheese was quite bland, and having eaten a number of pretty stellar versions of this classic, it was quite a disappointment. When we informed the server of our dislike of the dish (having eaten only 3 bites of it before pushing it aside), she said "Hm, usually only kids don't like the taste". Really? So you're saying that we have children's palates because we don't like your boring-ass mac and cheese? How about apologizing and taking it off the bill, since we didn't eat it. But no, we get smart-mouth comments and no removal of the item from the bill. I could accept paying for the food, but after the lack of tact and respect from our server, it was galling to shell out the $7.00 for what was truly a lame dish. I would have given 3 stars for this place based on the other food, which truly was decent, but the server and her handling of the situation cost a star. I doubt that we'll come back...

Based on my experiences so far, I have to say that this place is excellent. Firestone Walker beer overall is excellent. The range may be somewhat limited but overall they make their beers extremely well and this is particularly true for their standards such as Double Barrel Ale. Particularly nice is that they have as a standard beer here at the pub an unfiltered, cask-conditioned version of the Double BArrel, which is excellent. Food is also overall excellent. The place inside is interesting and stylish in an industrial sort of way, but comfortable. My main complaint is that it is not near downtown but just south of town in a light industrial area, but then that's where the brewery is, I guess, so putting the eatery there makes sense.

One of the most intimate little brewery tours I've been on. It's pretty brief but you get an overview of the whole operation. The tour guide was knowledgeable and provided a fun atmosphere to explore the brewery. Their tasting room is legit with lots of offerings you're not going to find elsewhere as well as a gift shop to take home your favorite brews. The restaurant across the street has fewer beer options (kinda unfortunate) and solid, albeit a bit overpriced food. This place is worth a stop if you're in the area but isn't as much of a destination as some of the other breweries as their operation is much smaller.

After hearing several friends rave about The Taproom, we finally decided to try it out. Very cool atemosphere, though almost a little too loud...we had a hard time hearing each other. The hubs and I each ordered a beer, which of course were both fabulous. Our waitress was on it, by asking if she could get our son a lemonade, which I almost forgot to order. I had the salmon which was good, but maybe a little on the salty side. Hubs had the burger which he said was really good. Our little one had the kids mac 'n cheese which was just ok. We've had way better mac 'n cheese at other local restaurants. The service was good...but definitely has room for improvement. Overall, a very good experience, though priced a little higher than what we like to spend on our Friday dinners out. We'll go back, but probably for an occassion where family or friends are visiting from out of town.

I had the Kobe Burger with Cheddar and Bacon, MY favorite was that they used a potato bun! LOved that! I intended for the Firestone Walker Restaurant in Buellton to be the capstone to my tour of a bunch of breweries in Southern California as I headed up 101 towards home, but it didn't open until 5 o'clock and our schedule didn't match with that. Luckily the taproom at the main brewery was definitely going to be open as we drove by! I got a sampler flight of four beers (Unfiltered DBA, Honey Wheat, Pale Ale and Union Jack) all of which were awesome. For some reason I had never tried their Union Jack IPA before and I thought it was incredibly awesome. Then I bought some merch and we hopped back on the freeway (it should be mentioned that I wasn't driving.)

After an afternoon of wine tasting in Paso Robles with my wife, I insisted to make a trek down the street to Firestone Walker (as we were staying in the Paso Robles Inn just a few blocks away) as I had my fill of the local wine, and needed some great beer. The tasting/tap room is fairly small, but clean and organized. The beers are listed to the right of the bar, close to all the swag for sale. We shared a flight that come in these FW snifter glasses in a custom wooden paddle. Ended up buying 4 for those to take home for tastings, but sadly the paddle is not for sale, so I've been on the lookout to have one made ever since. At the time, they had Unfiltered Double Barrel Ale on draft, Velvet Merkin/Merlin, Black Xantus, Union Jack, and the Robust porter. Service was good as the place closed about an hour in a half after we got there, and was somewhat slow, and we sat at the bar. Didn't get a chance to try any food, perhaps next time. If your in Paso or a nearby area, (as there are very few options in the area ) it's worth a visit, but also its Firestone Walker, and at least 1 visit is in order.

I have been there at least 6 times now and all I can say is "go for the beer, not the food" Beer selection is great and I like that you can order a taste for about $2 if you want to try a few things or get help making up your mind. I had been hearing things about Firestone having the best burger around so 5 of us went for a late lunch last Sunday. Totally disappointing experience all the way around. Food wasn't horrible, just not very good. They are REALLY lacking attention to details. Fries were greasy, burgers were no big deal and were actually a bit dry. Nothing was hot when it arrived. We also had a flat bread pizza that lacked pizazz........this was probably my worst food experience so far, but my other times eating there haven't been that much better. They really need to bring some expertise into the kitchen - a great brewery should have great food!

Fire stone Double Barrel Ale is the best place in the world, so while driving by we decided to stop and check out the brewery. So awesome. Good bar, good beer, and extremely friendly people. The bar room had plenty of TVs and cool decor all related to the number of awards the brewery won. It was pretty sweet. We got a little tour all to ourselves which was very neat and got to taste some beer the only have on site. The store merch was pretty cool and not as expensive as you would think. All in All, awesome place and a well worthwhile stop.

Loved the tasting atmosphere here. When you enter, you walk up to the bar and grab yourself a flight of something to taste. Flight came in groups of 4, with each sample being 1-2 ounces. Mosey out to a table and get to tasting! The only bummer is: Paso Robles has beautiful weather, and I didn't see any outdoor seating. The beers are mostly ales- even the hef seemed pretty hoppy to me. We really enjoyed the hemp ale and the seasonal brew. I gagged on the anniversary brew (when we asked what was in it, the bartend rolled his eyes and said they mixed 6 different brews together and then aged it in a bourbon barrel), but hey, it's a tasting- finding something that's awful is half the fun. Anyhow, if you find yourself really liking something, you can get a pony pint or an imperial to keep the party going. Tasting (read: drinking) occurs between 12pm and 7pm, and they provide some light bar snack fare. You can get a tour in the early afternoon (bring closed toed shoes, ladies). Overall, the pricing was totally reasonable ($6 for a flight of 4) and it was a great way to relax and kick off our evening.

If you order the Beer sampler write down what you ordered before drinking. Very casual place. You can also get in the back where the beer is bottled. Very cool experience if you want something other than Wine when you are in Paso Robles. They also have another Brewery further South. I will drink more beer from this cool smaller brewery. Hoo Hoo!!

It is a gorgeous room. I had BBQ Brisket which was good. I would not sell my mother for it, but it was good. People at the table had burgers and pizza, all thought their food was good. The beers are excellent. If you don't like beer, I would choose another restaurant. It is a brewery after all. The service is a little sketchy and they were out of at least 4 beers. The Velvet beers are only available in the fall and winter. I would certainly return if I was in the mood for the brewery tour or wanted to try some more beers. If I just wanted a place to drink beer, this place would work, but I would not drive to Paso to do it. If you haven't been and love the beer, I would go and order a sampler.

Firestone Walker Brewing is one of my favorite breweries, so I was really excited when I heard they were opening a restaurant in Paso. Here is a breakdown Beer - 5 stars - Firestone makes awesome beer. You really can't go wrong with any of the choices they offer at the Taproom. They only offer Firestone-brewed beers, so don't expect pages and pages of tap and bottle offerings like you get at a place like Stone in Escondido. Highlights are the Unfiltered DBA, Double Jack, and Velvet Merkin stout (this is the barrel-aged version). Bring your growler and get it filled before you leave. We are lucky to have such a well-respected and award winning brewery on the Central Coast. Food - 3 stars - I've been here a few times since opening and the food has yet to amaze me. My burger was overcooked, definitely well done, where I'd like to see a little pink in the center especially for the size of the patty. I was surprised that our server did not ask for the temperature when I ordered. The halibut in the fish tacos was dry (ordered grilled fish instead of the fried that comes standard), and the flavor in the taco overall was bland. Other people I have been with have had pasta and steaks, and none were all too impressed. On the other hand, the pretzel appetizer and all of the desserts have been very good. Hopefully they can elevate the rest of their food to match. Service - 2 stars - My first visits here were in the first few weeks of opening, so I expected the service to be a little rough. My last visit though I expected things to be better. Unfortunately they were not. Right from the start, the multiple hostesses at the station did not even acknowledge myself or my wife for close to a minute when we walked up. We were the only two people standing there! Once they decided to wake up, we were seated. The busser brought out bread and water, he was prompt and very nice. Our server comes over, no smile, cold greeting, to take out drink order. Her eyes were constantly focused on other tables that must have had more people and therefore bigger tip. Once we got our drinks, she took our food order, same darting eyes, fleeting attention. The manager ended up bringing out our food, and bussing our table. We had to ask for more beer and wine, and our water glasses were not refilled once the entire meal. After dessert, she offered to have my growler filled and added to the dinner tab, saving me a trip to the bar. This was the first courteous gesture of the evening. When I stated that I wanted the pilsner (a beer not available outside the brewery), she simply stated "It is not any good, it tastes like Budwiser." I was not asking for an opinion about the beer, I know what a pilsner tastes like. If the only descriptor she could give of the beer was that it tasted like Bud, I'd hate to hear how she describes the other brews. Just to be safe, I ordered a tasting of it (an extra $1.50), and it was good, crisp and mildly hoppy, just as it should be. Perfect for drinking outside when it is hot. So basically, the manager earned the two stars for the service team. Parking is kind of a pain, there is only a small lot (10 cars maybe), the rest is street parking. Inside is also fairly loud, nothing really to absorb the sound because it is all concrete and steel. Not as loud as Eureka Burger in SLO though. I'll be back because I love the brewery, but I hope the service and food improve in the meantime.

On a roadtrip from San Diego a buddy and I were really excited to pop in and have a beer. Upon entering we were informed that they had just closed and we had asked if they were still open for merchandise and beer sales (as people were still eating and drinking). The hostess was very nice and said she would ask. We then were approched by a very rude guy that was spouting off at us like he was hating life as he was still wiping down a glass. I could tell he was having a bad day and at this point just wanted to grab a shirt and a sixer. He told us we can buy beer in an over abrasive tone and pointed us towards a door. As we got to the door (not ever have been to this establishment) he comes and YELLS at us and says the beers are available to see through the glass window (as we started to crack the fridge door). Maybe if he wasnt such an overbearing angry person we would have known. I was half way to wanting to punch this guy for his demeanor. He should really learn proper customs and courtesies and how to approach people. Not knocking the establishment just the service of one individual that shouldnt have any exchange of relations with people ever. Left extremely upset, disrespected and beerless. Shouldn't feel unwanted or pushed to leave because one employee is having a bad day especially if the establishment is still open for sales. I can now say on my roadtrip to central California I didn't get to enjoy Firestone and didnt want to after the encounter of one prick employee. Just didn't want to spend my cash here following his presence.

I have never been beer tasting before and this was a cool experience. The brewery itself was awesome to check out, they were bottling something while we were there and it was fun to watch. They have tours on certain days if you have enough people in your group. The beers was good too and we tested 5 - the Hefeweizen, the Oaktoberfest, Solace, Pale 31 and a red pale ale that I can't remember the name of. My favorites were the Hef and the Oaktoberfest along with the Solace which was probably my favorite. If you have never been to a brewery and tasted this is a great place to try it out. The girl at the counter was very full of information on the different beers and they had a great selection of gifts and clothing too.

This place is such a let down. I was so excited for it to open and was extremely disappointed by it. A few good things are the beer obviously and the chopped salads. Otherwise I was pretty disappointed by everything else. The server was trying to be nice but was really unprofessional. We received our dinner before our appetizers and the assistant manager seemed very unapologetic about it almost as if it was our fault. The burgers we ordered were not cooked the way we asked and the pizza we ordered was horrible. The open kitchen is also not a plus for them because the cooks were not washing their hands, eating, and not being conscious of the fact that everyone in the restaurant is able to see them. I hope with time they get better but I was expecting much better from them. They need to hire better staff.

I love this beer! Firestone beers has always been one of my favorite, and today I was lucky enough to stop by there brewery on my way home from visiting family down south. I walked in expecting a small tasting room with a few beers on tap and was surprised how big and nice the place was. They have a large bar area severing many of there beers, must have been about 10 beers on tap, and a large sitting area with tables and stools. I really liked how they styled the place, it just seem cool, like I really would want to come here everyday if I lived in the area. When I walked in I looked around at the different items that they had to sell, looked at all the awards on the walls, and then headed straight to the bar. The bartender, who was kinda hot, was helping some other customers so I got a chance to take a look at what they had on tap. When she came over to see what I wanted I really still didn't have a clue, so I asked her to make a recommendation, she poured me a pint of Nectar IPA. The beer was a dark amber red color and was not as bitter as other IPA's that I've had in the past. It was so good that I decided to get a six pack of it to take home with me. I had a great experience at Firestone and will make it a regular stop when I'm driving through the area from now on. Oh and the bartender was definitely HOT!

I LOVE this place. I will NOT drive north without stopping here. All sorts of awesome beers on tape in tasting room that you cannot get anywhere else. Their nitro was one of the best beers i have ever had. Then you have a resteraunt next door with awesome food, and all the damn great beer you can drink. Pub is done so nicely, people are nice, food is great at good price. Honestly was in heaven to top off wine tastings.

Good beer. Picked up a case of DBA. Strange that it's WAY more expensive here than at the store. You would think it would cost less here because it was made here. From now on, I'll go to Safeway or Costco. $40 a case here and $22 a case at Costco.

First off, my hubby loves the Firestone beer, so we absolutely had to stop here while in town. We arrived at 4:55, and were told that the restaurant side didn't open till 5. We decided to sit in the bar area (which if you want to try any flights, sit here cuz we were told they won't serve flights in the restaurant). We ordered custom flights (they offer 2 types of flights they have picked) and dinner with the pretzel appetizer. The pretzel was yummy, soft and warm. I wish it was just a little bit bigger. The sauce that accompanies it was a spicy mustard with maybe some mayo in it? I like it. The pretzel paired well woth our beers. I ordered the fish tacos, which I have to say may have been the best I have ever had. The fish was well done with just enough breading and a paprika lime sauce that I could eat with a spoon! It comes with pico on the side and also a side of jicama fruit salad. Loved the fruit, a nice light side that paired well with the fish. Mu hubby ordered the mahi mahi special. Wow! I will def get this next time! It was so flavorful and melted in your mouth. Excellent dinner! The beer was great. Mu hubby got all of the IPA's and I tried a mish mosh. We were very happy with pretty much all of them. We even bought some to take home. We will back for sure! The atmoshpere was great, fun had some tv's if you wanna catch the game. Service was phenomenal! Our server was very attentive, answered our many questions about their beer. And never made us feel rushed even though they were packed.

Beer is really not my thing but the blonde 805 was good. And the food was great and service was too. They do tend to try and seat you family style. Ok with us, but not to some people they tried to seat next to us, they promptly left the restaurant. Kinda snobbish if you ask me. All they had to do is ask for more room. Anyway it was good. And we will be back. Maybe next time we will ask for a booth.

My buddy and I had an admittedly good time wine tasting around Paso Robles but we wanted to make sure this day wouldn't go down too homo-erotic in memory. So it was mandatory that we seek out good beer. Enter Firestone Walker Paso. Especially if it's your first time, the sampler ($6) is the way to go. They pour you four 4 oz. glasses held in a handy paddle that I considered pilfering. Here's what we had: Pale 31 - Floral hoppy style - this one was too tart for my tastes. The Double Barrel Ale (DBA in the hood) was amazing. This is their bestselling brew and if you like toasty, creamy English style ales, you'll love this. This was far and away my fave. Union Jack - a big IPA (7.5% alcohol) full of chewy citrus flavors. Clean and refreshing. The Walker's Reserve - This dark Porter was life having coffee and beer together - the sweet espresso flavors seemed odd and I was glad to try it, but I prefer the DBA and Union Jack. It's a cozy bar-like area with a couple of flatscreen TVs airing sports and a mostly local crowd, men and women. Half pints sell for $2.75, while full pints go for $5.50. They close at 7 pm, so this would be a nice spot to hit up after wine tasting. Foodwise, they only have 50 cent pretzels so prepare to find a place to eat afterwards. Come on down. Drink beer. Be a manly man like yours truly. (Takes a swig of DBA from his He-Man and the Masters of the Universe thermos.)

Extremely Disappointed with Customer Service. My fiance absolutely loves Firestone beer and we were looking forward to touring and learning more about how the product is made. We arrived at the visitor's center and my fiance asked the counter when the next tour was or if there was room. She said the 11:30 tour had been cancelled due to another event but there was another at 12:30 so just to come back. We decided to eat next door at the tap room and then come back. We rushed through lunch to make it on time for the 12:30 tour. The same employee then tells us that it's full....after she had told us to come back at 12:30. Our experience put a damper on our trip there which was sad because we are such faithful firestone customers...so beware those hoping for a tour!

It's suprising that this little brewery can produce so much beer to be shipped world-wide. We took a weekday tour (by appt. only, call ahead to schedule) and I think it lasted all of 30 minutes. (Not because the tour was poorly done, they just have such a small, efficient operation) Since we brew our own beer at home, we found it really interesting to see how it is done on a large-scale basis, while still maintaining that craft-brew flavor. The entire staff of the brewery was welcoming and willing to answer questions - my husband stopped for a minute to talk to one of the actual brewers as he was working on a mash (mash is a step in the brewing process) and the brewer was happy to provide answers and tips to help our own at-home process. After the tour, we went to the bar where we did some tasting. We chose to share a flight of all 14 taps, from lightest, Honey Blonde, to the brandywine, Anniversary Ale. We truly enjoyed them all, the only one we agreed was beyond our tastes was the Anniversary Ale - but its a really strong brandywine, so it has a completely different flavor profile and structure. We also had one of the flatbread pizzas, which was also very tasty. I would definitely come back again, and I will be looking for Firestone-Walker in my grocery. I hope they have the Hefeweizen, Pale 31, & DBA.

Union Jack IPA!!! If you are a beer fan this is a must visit. The Paso location is small and does not serve food... But this is a great place to come and enjoy a tall pint with some friends. I usually find my way back here after a long day of wine tasting, as they are open after 5pm when all the wineries close and are located just off the 101 freeway. I am actually a huge fan of all their beers, so if it is your first time, ask them for the tasting flight so you can try them all. Firestone Rocks!!! ps. they have free pretzels and homemade spicy mustard to help you soak up all that beer you just drank... lush!

Warning, this place is not a "brewpub" so there is not a full scale restaurant. They offer a good pretzel and a few types of small pizzas just so you have some food in your belly if you choose. The tasting room is very basic, but nice. The beer offerings are fantastic in the sense there is something for everyone and they are high quality. I am a hop head and they had three IPA's (one a double) to choose from but they also had plenty of other types of beer as well. Union Jack is an excellent IPA. Service was good but wait times for beer was longer due to people asking a lot of questions at the bar before ordering. Figure out what you want before you go to the bar. This is a brewery not a winery! The tour was short and simple but if you've never toured a brewery before it is a good way to learn an little and get a nice taster!

This was my third visit and the new tasting room is beautiful and has a restaurant in it as well. The beer was fresh, cold and tasty as usual. The modern feel of the bar was very cool. I had the honey blonde, which is my fave from them. We had a shrimp pizza appetizer that was very good. Can't wait until we are back in town to visit Firestone again!

I'm really not sure on how to rate this place at this time. Firestone beer is pretty good and seems to be getting better every year. Unfortunately their new tasting room/restaurant does not serve lunch. WTF? Also, the service was terrible and I REALLY mean terrible!! I felt like I must have turned invisible. All that being said, I do plan to go back for dinner someday, hopefully by then they will have gotten their shit together when it comes to customer service.

We've been to a lot of brew pubs and brewery-themed restaurants over the years, and this ranks as one of the best. Paso Robles and surrounding area is not very populous, but this place was packed when we were there. Everything about it was great. The menu had a nice variety and the beers were surprisingly good. Add to that the laid back ambience and you have a great dining experience. We will definitely be going again when we are in the Paso area, and if you're traveling through, we highly recommend stopping and checking it out.

Great place to drop in and break the monotony of visiting the vineyards. It isn't too far from the freeway either - anyway...the point of this is of course, the beer. And it is great...fresh and local. They have a ton of the beers you are familiar with, but many you probably haven't seen. I have never been disappointed and I usually walk away with a growler of something new and tasty. If you find yourself between San Fran and LA...make it a point to stop by. If you are looking for a full restaurant, visit their place down the 101 in Buelleton!

We had great expectations. Excited to try the beers and the food. We got there at 3:30 on a Saturday. Lots of people but not packed. The server met us as we were sitting down and repeatedly told us there will be no food until after 5pm. There was absolutely nothing. Giving a rating of 1 stars not because the food was bad or the beer selection was poor but because the service was so terrible. We visited durning a weekday around 11:30 and where there was basically one other table of guests there. The server was bitter and almost nasty to us before we even sat down. Five stars for this place and why not? A full selection of the great beers Firestone offers in a comfortable, spacious bar and lounge area. Plenty of TVs for sports and friendly ladies pouring the pints. There are pizzas available but I haven't tried them so I've never considered this a spot to eat. Their in house mustard is excellent though so grab a bag of pretzels and try that for sure!

This was kind of a letdown, honestly. As Firestone Walker fans, we were excited to finally check out the tasting room, but the whole experience was just average. The beer was fantastic and certainly up to FW standards. But, the pizzas were a little lame, and the service left something to be desired.

Firestone Walker Brewery is doing great things with water, hops, malt, and yeast. Their Union technique that goes into making Double Barrel Ale is absolutely flawless. It is no secret that this brewery dominates the World Beer Cup every year, and they totally deserve every ounce of that recognition. They have an incredible line-up of beers. 1) Double Barrel Ale: This is incredible stuff. Perfect blend of hops, and smokey-sweet flavor! They also have this beer unfiltered at the brewery and it will blow you away. 2) Union Jack: Perhaps the best IPA I have ever had. 3) Velvet Merkin: Chocolate-oatmeal stout lovers dream. 4) They also have a great Pale Ale, Wheat Beer, and a summer seasonal called Solace. I would drink all of them with a smile! Bottom Line: If you are in Paso Robles and like beer, you must make this stop. Have a couple pints, and grab a growler for the road. It's so damn good. They also bottle most of their beers, and you can find them distributed all over the country, including Costco. Just make sure you check the date and buy fresh beer. Fresh is best baby! Stopped here while staying in town for the night. The tasting room was geat and I was able to try the cask aged bourbon oatmeal stout which is bound to be a huge hit. The name I believe was a Velvet Merkin 2012. Fantastic beer which is nitrogen poured. After the tasting room, I went to the restaurant and had the Ahi Tuna. Absolutely awesome. I highly recommend both the tap room and the restaurant. My co-worker had the baby back ribs and they were great as well.

A friend and I were heading into Paso to get a late lunch, when we remembered that the Firestone Restaurant was open, and decided to go there. This was 3:00 PM on a Sunday afternoon. The following is from their website for this specific Paso Robles location: "Lunch - Friday-Sunday - 11am-4pm". We walked in, not greeted, no host, hostess...a sign on a barrel indicated that the dining room was closed until 5 PM.....huh?...I asked a busboy what the seating arrangements were, and he told me the bar area was open for lunch. Oh, OK, so we took a seat in a table and wait for our server. And we waited. We waited until 3:15 PM, and I finally flagged down a waitress, who did not stop to say anything like "I'll be with you soon"...instead, the gives me this 'look' like I'm bothering her, very condescending like, and strutted along pass us. What the heck? They were busy, but not that busy, no line out the door or anything, and there were table and bar seats available, and more than one waitress. At almost 3:20 she arrived at our table, and I asked for some menus, and she informed me that they stopped serving food at 3:00 PM...we left and had a great meal at Pappy MacGregors in downtown Paso and were served cold beers and good food by a waitress with that smiled...what a difference. Note to Firestone management: Making it in the restaurant biz requires two things: Booze and butt's in seats. You NEVER turn away business. I won't be back...See ya!

Lucky us...after a day of wine tasting (& olive oil tasting) we ended the day across the 101 from the hotel we were staying the, Hotel Bella Serra, at the Firestone Pour House..now, I believe, incorporated into their new Tap Room Restaurant. It is The Tap Room's first night open so we decided to give it a try - good decision! Our server, Tobey, what a delight -she knows what customer service is all about! How rare these days to have a server ask your names AND then use them everytime she came back to our table...which thanks to my indecisveness was often. Beyond the beer, which Firestone clearly has perfected, we ordered Fish & Chips and Simply Grilled Salmon. All I can say is bring your appetite if you order the fish and chips. If you sometimes tend be a less than full "american portion" person the salmon, for me, was an excellent choice & was cooked to perfection. The ONLY critique we had was that perhaps the chef was a tad, not too bad, heavy on the salt tonight; but still we throughly enjoyed the meal and the beers. Thanks Tobey for making this a wonderful experience on your first night open to the public.

After months of anticipation, my friend and I finally rolled into Paso Robles for the 31st Wine Festival. High on our list, however, was Firestone Walker. Their brews don't reach us here in Florida, so I was very excited to finally get my hands on some of their offerings. I was not disappointed. The tasting room was busy but we weren't suffering from inattention. A few of the staff didn't seem so openly friendly, but they weren't NOT friendly either. Jason was definitely a standout. He offered his thoughts and some facts on different brews that we tried and he was knowledgeable and friendly. This trip, for me, was my first experience with any kind of tasting environment...wine or beer...and I quickly came to the conclusion that the personalities who are pouring are absolutely essential to the experience and can make or break it for you. A total bonus was the brand new tapping of their Nitro brew. It was AMAZING and earned my "favorite" label. Unfortunately, the tours were already concluded for the day, but imagine my utter surprise to find that the bathroom is located in the brewery! So, if you miss or don't want to take a tour, go to the bathroom for a quick glimpse of where the magic happens. After the tasting room closed, we headed across the street to the taproom. The space is perfect. Soaring ceilings with just the right complement of decor and beautiful small touches. The bar area is spacious and inviting. Upon sitting at the bar, we were greeted by 3 different bartenders in quick succession, asking if we had been helped. Awesome. Here, we found the staff again to be knowledgeable and excited about their product. One funnyman entertained us with a series of silly jokes...but I laughed a lot. As with many beer companies, staff is offered an "after work" beer, so we were joined by a few employees from various departments of the company. Conversation was easy and they happily discussed their product with us and others. The food is a mixture of pub food and much fancier options, but it was excellent. The only surprise was the pretzel. The dip was phenomenal but it was a rather small pretzel. Being on a bar menu, I expected it to be a bigger offering, so if you are more than one person, don't expect it to go far if it is all you are going to order. Overall, this was an outstanding experience and I will be sure to visit the next time I am in the area.

BUT I didn't take the tour do to not wearing closed toed shoes. Definitely wear actual shoes on this trip and not whatever you would normally wear, no matter how weather appropriate.

Props for the brewery basics - a decent selection of beer at cheap prices. The $6 tasting, 4 varieties, is the highlight. Truly sad that only bagged pretzels (with good mustard!) are the sole food option on site. A small uninspiring seating area doesn't really welcome hanging out with friends either.

After eating at Timmy T's and on my way back to LA, this place called out to me. Well, I saw this place off the 46 and had to check it out. I actually wasn't that big of a fan of their Double Barrel Ale but who can resist freshly brewed beer?? Boy am I glad I stopped!! The other people at the 6 or 7 seat bar were super friendly and told me I had to try the Parabola. It's an AMAZING oatmeal stout, probably the best I've ever had. At 13%, it's a heckuva strong beer but the depth of flavor I can't even describe!! I also had the sampler here with Walker's Reserve (porter), Double Barrel Ale, and Pale Ale (I think). Of those I enjoyed the Pale Ale the best. I think they have tours of the brewery here but you gotta call ahead. If you're a fan of beer (especially IPAs) stop here.

A "bar" in the Brewery. Sort of a fun place and the beer is pretty good. They close early, like at 7 pm....strange. The woman who always works the bar can be very rude! And then other times somewhat friendly You have to beg for your beer or stand there sheepishly waiting for a long long time (no wait service at the tables). I sometimes wonder why a business would put a person with no people skills out to represent their business!? Could it not be her, but the crappy management? Who knows!? They have a good selection of beer and most of it is good. Some are sort of over-hopped in some cases. I'd call this amateurish, but it seems that it's what folks want. And what is up with the 11% Alch. beer? Crazy and not good. Stick with the lower alch. selections for both taste and keeping your wits about you! I don't know about swearing (see review below), but they do allow dogs! We met the brew-master a few times and he seems like a very nice quiet unassuming young man. I think they need to decide whether they are a bar or a tasting room (change the hours and offer some table service). Now can they do anything about the crappy wine their sister Winery makes? lol

Cool microbrew from Central Coast. When I'm in the area I usually make a stop here to have a few pints. My recommendation is their walker reserve. It's their best IMO.

It's a must stop if your cruising the highway and need a break. Not only are Firestone brand ales pretty good, but this is where Red Nectar is brewed now. One of my all time favorites!! They will also have special brews on tap for your unique drinking pleasure. There seems to be a healthy amount of locals that frequent the place. Everyone is friendly enough. No kitchen, but there is a Subway down the street if you need to eat something before you get back on the road. Oh yeah! And the Firestone mustard is taste-toe taste-toe.

BY FAR thee BEST beer made in North America (hell, North and Central America for that matter). Double Barrel Ale is like heaven in a bottle. I had my first taste in, of all places, an Applebee's in San Luis Obispo. That first pint was amazing! Since then, I have been a big (and getting bigger) fan. I've had beer in places from deep in Central America to Ireland and Belgium, Amsterdam and Spain; Firestone DBA is only second to my beloved Guinness (straight from the brew house in Dublin, of course). However, buying a six pack "down here" in So. Cal. might run you around $9.00 but it is so worth it. Luckily I have a source... a local to the brewery. My mother-in-law!! Each time she comes to stay with us, she knows that the price for her room and board is at least a case Firestone DBA. No beer, no room and board! She's an Angel who knows how to keep me happy. On her last visit she brought me not one but TWO cases of their IPA, which is pretty awesome and will definitely be enjoyed during these hot days of summer. I hope she keeps up with our agreement forever! Also, if you have a chance, don't forget to try Walker's Reserve (porter) and Pale Ale. They too are some of the best beers you will ever enjoy.

It's all about the beer here. No kitchen, no waitrons, and a charming absence of chicken wings. Just great beer, friendly beertenders, wise-ass locals, and great beer. Did I mention the beer? Excellent place for a date - if your date loves beer.

We found some Firestone DBA at the market right after we moved back to the area and loved it. So, decided we just had to visit the brewery in person. I give the beers 5 stars and the service 3 stars. I loved the porter... yummmmmm! We actually like all of the beers we tasted. Hubby liked some more than I did and vice versa. The fellow behind the bar seemed nice enough, but was very aloof, not exactly attentive to his customers, and seemed bored by the whole thing. It was like pulling teeth to get information from him about the beers. And then there was an employee who kept popping in from the back and sitting at the bar who got more attention than the customers. As we left I asked about buying some porter to take home. Nope, all out..... Sad, sad, sad. I will probably go back to see if I can buy their porter.

I loved their pale ale for years, and since we were in town last year we came to the tap room to try their samplers. We had a wonderful experience, and the girl working there was very nice and informative. We came back this year and everything is exactly the same, except for a few new beers along with changes to some old ones. We really liked the Velvet Merkin before they changed it up, now its a little more "fortified" tasting and smoky then I remembered but still very good. Pretzel bags for 50 cents with some of their DBA mustard free. Its a simple place, but the beer is amazing (apparently the awards displayed on their wall are a testament to that) and the service is always friendly. Its a very down to earth and slow atmosphere, and very comfortable to relax with a pint of your favorite beer. I know of some other breweries which might have grown too fast and lost sight of what's important, the beer and the people "cough"S****"cough". If this place was down in Southern California, I'd be overran everyday with people, but being so far away from anywhere I'm glad to see its stayed how its been. (Not that I'd snub their success to keep a tap room from being too popular; they've been in more supermarkets and restaurants though, so it seems as though they're doing well)

We love this place! We visit the Paso Robles area about twice a year and it's a ritual to begin our weekend here. Kimmie is Fantastic and the locals are friendly. The beers are incredible especially the Union Jack! If you're headed to the central coast wine country this place is a must see (did we mention the great people watching)!

Stopped in here on the way home from Monterey to stretch our legs, do some beer tasting, and take a tour of the brewery! I have recently become a beer snob, so I'm always looking for new beers to try. Went on a Sunday afternoon, there were people coming and going but it wasn't crazy packed. Tried the 4 beer sampler, which comes in 4 oz snifters served in a wooden paddle thingy. 6 bucks. Beers were good! I guess Firestone is known for their variety of pale ales, which I'm trying to be a fan of but haven't caught on just yet. Their Porter was amazing, though. Coffee and chocolate undertones... really nice. You can also order 1/2 pints for 2.50, so it allows you to try more beers. The tour was really cool too. You get to walk through the entire brewery where they make the beer and everything, and they even give you a free 1/2 pint out of the keg of freshly brewed beer toward the middle of the tour! The tour guide/bartender was very knowledgeable about the entire brewing process and it's overall a really cool experience. After the tour we were hungry so we ordered the 3 cheese pizza (about 8 inches diameter) for 8 bucks. Damn good pizza! I will definitely go back when I am in the Paso Robles area. Its a nice change from all the wine tasting that goes on in that region. Cheers!

Brewery with a "tasting room". This is the home of Firestone Walker beer. The tasting room offers all of their many beers on draft. You can order by the pint or a sampler pack. Once you find out what you like, take home a growler with 64 oz of fresh stuff. For me, the standouts are the IPA, famous Double Barrel Ale, and standard Pale Ale. When you have good fresh beer, it makes the stuff in the bottle taste like fizzy water. If only they served food, I could make it an afternoon. Better yet, I wood fired pizza oven and grill...

4 stars for the IPA, the Double Barrel Amber, and the Porter. One more star for the price! On our way back to the Bay Area from our central coast wine and frolic tour, the GF and I stopped here to wet our whistle for the drive through the valley. Beer good, prices great, extra points for the bottling room being right where you go to the bathroom. You get to see everything, Laverne and Shirley style. Bonus points for the worker coming in for a pint on his lunch break! Make a little beer stop on your wine tasting tour!

Stopped here on the way down from NorCal and was not disappointed. They have samplers of their outstanding beer for $6 including a free pint glass. Firestone Double Barrel Unfiltered is my favorite beer of all times, and sadly you can only get it to go in a growler from here and the brewpub in Buelton. So I bought a growler, I think it was $17 and when I come back I can refill for $10. They have pretzels and their own mustard complimentary too. A must stop if you are heading through Paso Robles on the 101. They close pretty early if I can remember.

Visiting the area for the Great Western Bike Rally, wife and I stopped into the Taproom Saturday at 5 o'clock. We found our way to the patio, about 70% full, and sat down. After about 10 minutes someone brought us water. A few minutes later another person brought us menus. Another 10 minutes or so and someone else took our drink order. We waited for about 10 minutes for our drinks and finally gave up and left. As we went out the door I looked back at the bar and saw our drinks getting flat while our server chatted with her colleague. So the review is regrettably not about the fare, but the miserable service!

This is our new favorite place to stop for dinner on our way from Monterey to Santa Barbara. We've been here twice now, and we've had the fish tacos, salmon, pizza, and seared ahi, and it's all been good. Of course, the main reason to come here is for the beer; they brew some of the best on the west coast. There are many varieties that you can only get at the brewery, not in the stores. I like that you can get a small 10-oz glass, very reasonably priced at $4, in case you want to try a couple different kinds (or if you still have a two hour drive ahead of you and don't want to drink too much!). We usually end up taking a growler with us to go, whatever beer we liked best that night.

I came for lunch today (Friday 11/3) and was very disappointed. I LOVE their beers (parabola, double jack, pale 31, etc) and after seeing the positive yelp reviews, I was expecting a better experience. There was 3 in our party and the hostess sat us at a regular small table. We asked to sit at one of the open booths and she said they were reserved and for parties of 4 or more. We had 3 people. 4 of the booths had 2 people. There was 3 open booths. When we left there was 6 open booths. I'm assuming the hostess was not friendly to non-white customers because she sat 2 white females at a booth 30 minutes after we arrived. The waitress was friendly and helpful. The food was decent. The beer was fantastic. But this is still my first and final visit. I will no long buy their beers either. There are plenty of fantastic craft beers available in California. I recommend Russian River, Bear Republic, Green Flash, Sculpin, The Bruery, and Port Brewing. IMO, better than Firestone. I recommend not ordering coffee. It was $3.75 each and was just a regular drip coffee. They were trying to be fancy and had a little table side drip system in a glass pitcher. The coffee was light flavored and not hot. Not worth $3.75. I know this is not a coffee place, but if you charge that much for drip coffee, I'm expecting good coffee.

Highly recommend the Pale 31 & 805. The tasting room is full of friendly staff who answer any questions you have. Easy to find with some parking. Stopped by on the way up 101 and very glad we did. Will plan better for next time to take one of the tours!

I walked into Firestone and no bigger disappointment could possibly have hit me. This ginormous room for dining and then a bar to the left. I walked over to the bar and it just felt stale and lame and I was thinking to myself how I didn't come here for THIS! I could have sworn people mentioned something better, different. I went back to the hostess and asked her if I was missing something because this is not what I wanted. She smiled and told me to go to the next building. All the relief in the world came as I walked through those doors and saw a small, intimate tasting room. I was actually super impressed. It reminded me of all the microbreweries in the warehouses I have been to and all the great conversations I've had with brew masters and randoms. What impressed me even more was how much all the bartenders knew about seemingly everything! I was home!! :) What is cool about Firestone is that they have many beers you could only get there and nowhere else. What I get but I was a little disappointed about is that certain beers you can't get in growlers- it's on-site only. I think it's a good thing but, for my personal greedy self, I would love to bottle some of that and take it home with me. I did discover what might be my favorite beer ever- Dos Osos. Being from Chicago, it might have tasted even that much better when I saw it was co-brewed with Revolution. In any case, it was one of those on-site only beers. I did like all the beers there, even ones I didn't think I would like such as Wooky. I did end up taking home some UDBA, which was fantastic as well. To me, Firestone is definitely a great place to pop by if you're going to the small tasting room because you have that great atmosphere where you learn about beers, discuss it with others, and taste so many. Firestone is definitely one of the better breweries out there and all their beers always make an great impression on me!

When it's too hot for wine tasting go try Firestone beer. Great tasting selection with specialties on tap not available anywhere else. I loved the Stickee Monkey and want to go back and buy some. You can also take a free tour of the brewery. Must wear close toed shoes and reservations are recommended.

Fabulous food, beer, and ambiance. We visited for a weekday lunch and were seated quickly. A helpful waiter explained the many beer choices. We decided on a 4 beer sampler, which also gets you a token worth $2 toward take home beer or a Firestone T shirt. I had the BBQ brisket sandwich with some of the largest crunchiest onion rings ever. The food was as good as the beer. Next door you can buy beer to take home and take a brewery tour, available mainly Fri., Sat., and Sun. We'd just missed the one on Thurs. afternoon. If you want to take the tour, you might want to check in on times before eating.

Stopped here on the way home from a road trip. As expected with most breweries, the food took a back seat to the beer (which was excellent). Had a chance to try several offerings as we had a large group of 12 and went somewhat family style: - Pretzel: $4 - Decent. Their beer mustard cheese sauce was overly sweet. - Angry Mac & Cheese $9. BLAND BLAND BLAND. - Mushroom Soup: $4 for a "coffee cup" size of soup. Good flavor but small for the price. - Kobe Beef Burger: $13 Chargrilled Kobe beef. Missing salt on the burger and had an overly "charred" flavor that took it over. - Wild Mushroom Pizza: $14 Probably the best thing we tasted. Great mushroom flavor. Good crust. - Fish and Chips: $17 Another good choice. Crispy fish. Creamy coleslaw and good chips. - Tap room Chicken: very small chicken breast that was a bit over marinated but juicy. The pitfall was the lentils that had the consistency of split pea soup. Would have been good on its own but a weird side dish. Service was friendly and efficient but overall the streak continues for breweries of food taking the back seat.

Absolutely stop and do a beer flight! (or two!) The unfiltered DBA is To.Die.For. awesome. Food, last time I was there, was......wanting. Cobb salad was great, as was the mud pie, but everything else was mediocre. Service was great. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive, but didn't hover, and responsive.

By the way just for a little trivia.... This IS the same Firestone connected with one of the first Bachelors! I've met him when I worked one of the events Firestone Beer was involved in... He's nice... never married the girl on the show but is married now... I saw the ring before she did! He was up as early as I was promoting his event on KSBY and he was going to pop the question that day... (for you followers of the show! lol.) I am a little confused. The name of this restaurant is called the Tap Room but Yelp has a whole different site for it, as if it is a different business though it is the exact same address.... this one has over 100 reviews and the other one currently, has less than thirty?? Oh well, I am choosing to post my review here since the other one averages 2 stars and that is crazy!!! This place was awesome. I had been hearing a lot about it and how packed it gets. I am glad I tried it because I am not fond of crowds and almost let that detour me. But we got there early, around 5ish on a Thursday. We had just been to Cool Hand Lukes the night before. a place we really used to love but just recently things seem to have gone downhill and really were disappointed ~ so this was a nice turn of events. They start out by taking the drink order and serving warm bread and butter. Tobey was our server and she was amazing. The decore was more LA ish And I like it because I am from there! My husband and mother in law got the baby back ribs and they fell of the bone they were so tender and tasty.(unlike the previous night before at the other restaurant!) I wish I had ordered them. But I loved my small chopped salad. (Though I liked the idea of the bleu cheese which was my main reason for ordering it and they completely left that out.) I should have complained and did mention it to Tobey but it was good. I normally don't order beer at a place like this, but it was so hot that day and I was at a brewery for heaven sakes, so I ordered the Hefenweisen due to Tobey's suggestion... when I asked for something similar to the Pear Beer my daughter turned me on to. The Hefenweisen is citrusy and good. Everyone else ordered 805s and loved them. They should do a sample tasting order... like they do at their events... maybe the do... I wasn't looking. All I know is Firestone is known for their beer. So I guess, why support other beers when they make a slew of their own? We didn't dare order dessert. I am sure it would have been outstanding as well. The prices were a bit high ($8 for a small chopped salad but it filled me up) but when we got ready to leave, almost every booth and table was filled and ... it doesn't look as if they will need to be lowering them anytime soon. They are not hurting for business. It was a Thrusday night and the place was beginning to be packed by the time we left. I loved their booths and the way they were raised. Reminded me off a place I recently went with my friend who lives up North. It was also a brewery and the places seemed identical in decor. Soooo my vote is 4 stars besides the slighly pricey menu...(I say if the food is consistently good and the chef remembers the blue cheese next time...(the kitchen still seems to be working their kinks out but those ribs were probably the best I ever tasted so they are on their way!) it is worth the extra dollar or three!) As long as they have servers like Tobey there, you can't complain about the service and loved the atmosphere. We all would go back! Maybe soon!

Beer is not my thing, but my husband loves their stuff. Arranged to take the brewery toor, it was awesome, the tasting room, also very cool, totally recommend it. Then I made a mistake. We went to the Taproom for lunch. Don't make the same mistake folks. The service was so-so and the food was NASTY. Had the brisket sandwich on a potato roll. Wet, mushy bland tasteless beef on a soggy roll. I never send food back, but I couldn't eat it. I sent it back and requested the fish taco instead. Yet again, gross. Flour tortilla, a greasy piece of fish, shredded cabbage and slice of avocado. Even after adding the sauce on the side, all I could taste was the grease. JUST DONT. The highlight was the pretzel appetizer. Beer was good, so maybe just stick to that, do not waste your money on the food.

Been to the Taproom twice. The first time was disappointing, but I thought it was because it was newly opened or they were having a bad day. This, the second time, was the last. We were seated in their cavernous dining room. Check it out on line - the dining room is just a huge warehouse with hard wood chairs and concrete floors. The food is straight out of Costco. I had the BBQ Smoked Brisket sandwich and it was served on a (Costco?) pretzel bun. And their 'Wookey Jack' BBQ sauce is tasteless. It's served with little pile of fries on a large plate that makes the small serving seem even smaller. Worth $13? Are you kidding! My wife had the Taproom Chopped Salad. Again, all the ingredients seemed like they came from bags at Costco - nothing fresh. And it cost $14! The service was equally poor. We started by being ignored for a full 20 minutes, and the inattentive service continued. It's clear that these guys are relying on their reputation for beer -- their food is way overpriced and tasteless. When we left I asked each one of our party of five if they were satisfied. Every one of them left still hungry and dissatisfied. One even suggested that we stop at the McDonald's on the way out. I've been to many brewery restaurants (Deschutes in Bend, Oregon is probably the best). If you are discriminating enough to brew beer, you'd think you'd be able to serve great food too, right? Not here. If you want beer, you can try this place. If you want food, go somewhere else.

I'm not a beer guy...I don't like beer so I can't comment on the beer. The food however was very good. We had the fish & chips as well as the calzone. Both meals were delicious and came with a garden salad but I do have some complaints. 1) the "small" order of fish & chips only comes with 2 relatively small pieces of the fish. It would have been better with 3. 2) the garden salads are ultra boring. They need to kick down something more in them...carrots, tomatoes...something! I'm sure between the calzone dough and French fries seasoning they could probably come up with some pretty awesome croutons! 3) they put spinach leaves in the calzone. Totally pointless. Who wants soggy ass limp spinach leaves in their calzone? Not me. 4) there was no list of additional ingredients to add to the calzone. I had to ask if I could get pepperoni in my calzone. A more obvious list of extra add-ons would be nice. A little pricey for a two-person meal ($38 for fish/chips, calzone & two sodas) but all in all a good meal. The exterior of their buildings and interior style are cool too. I will certainly eat there again on a future trip to Paso Robles. I want to try one of their burgers next time :)

I loved my tour of the brewery. I have been a fan of the wine, and I love the use of wine barrels for the beer. The tasting I did made me a much bigger fan of the beer, because there are so many terrific brews! I love the complex, rich flavors. I gained respect for the place on the tour, and am going to go out of my way to by it locally. I know they carry it at Total Wine and More. Wookey Jack was my favorite - I love a robust, bold beer. But the line up in the tap room was overall impressive. The tour is free - I highly recommend taking it.

Not impressed. The tables and chairs were not clean, the food was lousy and the service wasn't much better. Great location and facility they need to hire a janitorial service and teach the servers some hospitality. Have the cooks eat there own food and make some adjustments.

My boyfriend and I had a great time here. We really enjoyed the beers as well as the tour (which could have been longer but they were bottling when we were there). The two guys that were working the tasting room and the tour (Mark) were very friendly and engaging; they obviously love what they do. Their swag is pretty good too. I got a t-shirt and bicycle jersey that I love wearing.

Four words: Velvet Merlin Oatmeal Stout. I don't normally like velvet but in this case, I take it all day! This stout is delicious. The food was pretty good too! Just had some apps at the bar on our way home from Paso wine tasting. It hit the spot. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Paso/SLO area. I'm also a fan of the Double Barrel Ale :)

This is a brewery so of course the beer is great with a nice atmosphere. I tried the ribs and broccoli without sauce since I was low carbing. The portion size was generous and they were tender and tasty even without the sauce. Toby was my waitress and she was friendly and gave me great services. This is a very good place to have dinner and I would definitely go back here.

We stopped in for an early dinner. The food, beer and atmosphere was very good. Our waitress Toby had a great personality, offered good suggestions and took good care of us. There was a wide variety of food choices. We shared the blackened ahi tuna toasted appetizer and the English fish and chips entree with a beer sampler. The food was fresh and tasty. We stopped here driving up the central coast on vacation. Service was excellent and our food came out in 15-20 min. I ordered a burger with seasoned fries, my wife ordered the fish and chips and both were very good. We are big fans of this brewery's beer and getting the 805 pale ale on tap was an amazing experience. Easily our new favorite beer. Highly recommend this restaurant and brewery if you are in the Paso Robles area.

I feel like this place is just meh. Here's why: The atmosphere is really awesome- it's very modern looking, you have privacy at many of the tables available in the restaurant. The service was good- we were seated right away and they weren't busy when we went. The food is definitely over priced and just ok. I had the fish tacos; my husband had the cobb salad. Fish tacos were basically fish sticks inside flour tortillas. I'd really hope places around here would be able to serve fresh fish in their tacos (even if it's just cod or tilapia- something cheap is fine for tacos), and it really needs to be a corn tortilla. They had mango and salsa options on the side, which made me feel just the basic, bare tacos weren't enough, or something.... hm. They were very sub par. Husband's cobb salad was just ok- it was cheap-o iceburg lettuce... but a $14 price tag. Eek. I'd expect more for those prices. Definitely overpriced, in general. We got the beer sampler- so of course that was delish, as their beers are super tasty. It was reasonably priced as well. I haven't been back, because I just wasn't wow'ed. I'm sure I'll go back and give another chance, but they really need to up their game if they're going to charge those kinds of prices.

First time couple weeks ago, took a cab from the hotel which was 4 miles each way $22 times two anyway. Great setup plenty of seating, took the last tour of the day call or email before, they only do so many per day. Beer great as normal, best was bourbon barrel merkin, I think. Food serving small pizzas and pretzels. plenty of shirts and stuff and all spread out so you can actually look at it before you buy. Tour was great even got a free beer out of it, that's better then a sharp stick in the eye. Overall great place to visit and great little sleepy town. Would come back soon!

This review is for the visitor's center and tasting bar only. I did not take a brewery tour or visit the neighboring pub. I was very stoked that while on our wine-o-rama honeymoon, we would be in the vicinity of the Firestone Walker Brewery. We popped over there just before the center closed at 5pm where we bought several different tasters. There is plenty of great merchandise including clothing, pint glasses, and of course beer. We went home with a few pint glasses but since we were traveling we did not grab any beer. Firestone's 805 is delicious and I now regret not taking any with us. It's supposed to only be available in the 805 area code! Oh well, next trip to Paso. For the tasting experience, we were served by a variety of people just as if at a bar, so not a lot to complain about. Service was prompt and beer was refreshing. They will combine your beer tab with your merchandise purchases. Definitely take a stop here whether in the area or just passing through!

I have been a fan of firestones double barrel for years. I didn't realize the brewery was in paso until I randomly passed it while doing wine tasting. We made sure we had time at the end of the day to do a tour and tasting. Unfortunately we were not able to do the tour, but we did do the tasting. I tried four different beers and was pleasantly surprised. The PNC stout was gorgeous and they said you can only get it at the brewery. They offered at least 12 different type of beers so next time I will try more. If you are in the area you should stop by.

Still, I have to say that this place is so worth going if you love beer or even if you are fascinated with learning about the Firestone family who partially owns this brewery as well as owns the tire brand. My boyfriend and I went on the brewery tour which was very informative. Although, you really need a good knowledge about brewing in general to get a lot out of the tour. The restaurant part has a great selection of food on the menu. I had a flat bread mushroom pizza that was very tasty. Overall, even though I do not drink beer, I really liked coming here. Learning about its history and having dinner there was quite enjoyable. Pros: -Great food at the restaurant -free tours of the factory -have heard the beer is some of the best (sorry but I do not drink) -the brand is rich in history Cons: -no non alcoholic drinks available except for water at the bar -limited snacks at the bar

Solid 4 stars as the atmosphere is fun and upbeat. The food is simple but good (BBQ Chicken pizza is great) and the beer is of course PHENOMENAL. The new facility is gorgeous and fun loud vibe. Nice staff!

I've been on countless brewery tours all across the US...Firestone's was the most intimate and educational that i'd been on. A small group of us toured the brewery and our guide, one of the brewers, talked in terms everyone could understand and then for us beer geeks, answered every question in depth. We then hit the tasting room where we were treated to not only their mainline beers (which are awesome in their own right) but a few impossible to find anywhere else beers (hello 14th Anniversary!!) After thoroughly enjoying ourselves, we headed across the street to their restaurant. the 10 oz NY Strip was cooked perfectly along with fresh mashed potato and veg. In conclusion, their Union Jack IPA is my go to IPA and Double Jack, (their double IPA) and Parabola (Imperial stout) are in my top 5 beers of all time. Awesome!

We just got home here in Paso Robles after eating at this new restaurant. We feel that the beer is the best on the Central Coast. But restaurant rates below Carls Jr. as far as quality. They need to start from scratch and design a new menu from the ground up. We had the fried chicken special today and we didn't get fried chicken. We got a boneless breast of chicken smothered in canjun spices and it tasted burnt. We got a small scoop of mashed potatoes and a very bitter arugala salad with no dressing. The gravy in the dish we all thought was salad dressing. In all quite disappointing. To top it off we were shocked when we got the bill and the plate was $17. We expected great things, but they just didn't deliver. Until they change things, we will not recommend anyone go to the Tap Room.

We stopped by here for a beer because we are both Firestone fans. We wanted to have dinner too but we were in that weird time void between lunch and dinner so we decided to just have a few beers. We were there on a Sunday and it was super quiet, not a lot of people. The beers we had were excellent and the bartender was super friendly.
